Wish: NDI input

I'd like to be able to bring an NDI feed *into* Proclaim, not just output to one.

I'd like to see NDI input added to Proclaim that way I could live switch from songs over to a live interview that's fed into Proclaim via NDI but "broadcast" / displayed via Proclaim.

The proclaim service might include the usual songs, some videos, etc then in the program list would be an NDI source, when clicking on it that'd bring up on the screen the NDI feed provided by Skype (or any other NDI source) of audio & video.

  • Very much agreed. The fact that you must use the sole camera input using the NDI tool virtual webcam feature breaks other functionality when we cannot use the input otherwise.

For example, we use a separate system for broadcast and video production mixing, so it is important that the incoming feeds from Proclaim have alpha channels for lower-thirds. When the camera input is set up in proclaim, it will _always_ show that input rather than a transparent background, so our lower thirds feed is broken.

We would like to be able to do the above for Skype calls, or for video feeds from other rooms/locations like our baptismal, which is actually behind the congregation.

Even more interesting would be the ability to use NDI feeds for slide background and foreground images, which would allow picture-in-picture - so the audience could see themselves when talking to someone over skype!

If you install NDI studio (New Tek) you can see the NDI feed as an audio feed and video feed in Proclaim, it just does not work. Would be great if it did

Can you make a content item that is an NDI video capture? For example, we use VMIX as our streaming software and we frequently have video calls hosted that we can put on the network from VMIX and play on our presentation computer, but we cannot play them from within Proclaim, we have to switch to VLC or NDI Video Monitor.

We get around this by using the NewTek NDI tools NDI Studio Monitor to display our Front of House feed. Then we simply point it at the Proclaim NDI feed when we want to display slides, and other NDI feeds when we want to display them. In this way you can use Proclaim entirely as an NDI source while retaining the ability to display any NDI feed to your projector.

This would be an amazing feature. An NDI input that could be inserted into the service would allow any presenter in the building to share their screen using NewTek screen capture and have it easily outputted to both the in-house and livestream feeds

We have a similar situation in mind. We've come from ProPresenter 7, and it allows one to define video inputs driven from NDI and other modes. Historically we've used this to display Zoom calls captured over NDI. In my case I'm sourcing them from an OBS window capture and VB Audio device rather than vMix, but the presentation requirements are exactly the same since NDI is NDI.

To be clear, video means video and audio. Essentially just like a Video item we can use today, but sourced from NDI rather than a file.

EDIT: I just realized this is a duplicate of https://feedback.faithlife.com/boards/faithlife-proclaim/posts/wish-ndi-input .
  • Yes please for the NDI input for Proclaim.  This will simplify things for low-tech volunteers.
  • Yep.  I agree.
