Selection Menu: Allow display of notes in the pop-up info pane to be turned off

Recently the Logos Android app condensed/dumped a number of things into the info pop-up. It now contains highlighting, tools, notes, and word definitions. There is no reason to waste space with note snippets for any nearby note. I can get my notes by touching icons in the text. What has happened is that to access the word information, I have scroll past all the note snippets - almost every single time. This extra step makes getting at word information very tedious. At the very least allow this to be turned off. Please.

Have a great day,
jmac

I look up many Greek words. With the combined popup I now have to click four times for every word. VERY annoying. I don’t use Logos on my phone much now—just my Olive Tree app. 😪

@Glen K. Curry  I'm sorry you've been dissatisfied with the new selection menu. We are working to improve this functionality to make it quicker to perform actions and more intuitive.

Yeah, especially since the popup doesn’t even show enough information to be useful at all as a word lookup. Thanks for your help.

@Ali Pope  Have your team look at the interface that Olive Tree offers for lookup compared to the one Logos has. In this case Olive Tree really has done nice work. Thanks! 😀

@Ali Pope  I liked the way it was it the pre October release. Perhaps give the user the option of "legacy view". Other than that I don't see any way to make 4 taps "quicker and more intuitive" than the 1 tap like it used to be.

I don't understand "have to click four times for every word" lookup.
    1. Tap and hold on the word to select it.
    2. Tap on "More" at the bottom of the Word Info card - the top lexicon opens
         -OR-
Tap on the Word Study button to open the Word Study guide.

What are the extra 2 taps?

(As a counter opinion on this -- I like the menu feature better than the old version (I don't know what Olive Tree is like).  I can't count how many errant highlights I had to delete on the old one because of an accidental finger touch in the wrong place.  And this new menu feature puts all the options in one easy to use place --plus you can 'X' cancel if you want out!)

I can’t help but agree with @Jeffrey Gardner  on this and it makes me wonder if the “4 taps” come from not entirely knowing the full functionality of the new interface?

It’s  2 clicks to get get in AND 2 to get out—
However you would like to count with whatever path you take, it’s definitely MORE to get to useful information than it was before!!

When using logos to study the original languages, the pop-up menu that appears when you select a single word is indispensable. In the old version, this pop-up was simple, and contained only the relevant information at a quick glance. In the new version, the most relevant info is not readily available (the interface has been cluttered with highlights etc) and one needs to scroll down manually each time. This greatly exacerbates the amount of time one spends on this. In addition it’s a disability issue for those of us with a low tolerance for moving animations. Is there any chance to have an option for displaying the old “no-nonsense” context menu instead?

@Jeffrey Gardner  because on some devices you’re not seeing the full content of the box. in the old version everything you needed was in a small compact box that did not disrupt anything

@Chris Lane  nope it’s actually like this on a small device

@Ali Pope  please just give back an option to use the old pop-up mode. the product is genuinely wrecked with this. for reference, this was how it looked, clean, minimal, non-disruptive visually, exactly the information one would need.

@Ali Pope  note that there’s also another topic with 45 votes on this. This new “functionality” is completely ruining the use of the software for interacting with the original languages for us. Will you do something to fix this?

Not sure the Merge clarified the issue—just lost it in the mud of various ideas!

@Ali Pope  I’m about done with Logos!
This “merge” just buried the issue. Your boards are a hopeless waste of time.
Let’s send it to the Committee!

@Glen K. Curry  There is a bug in Feedbear that I have reported that wrongfully changed the number of votes. Nonetheless, your request has not gone unnoticed.

@Ali Pope  Except for searching with just the right words, I don't see how anyone would think to click on THIS post to address the issues that were later merged in.  The two following topics were merged in and effectively lost in the mud of this bureaucracy! Totally mind numbing!
Bring back old mobile context menu
    Separate Word Lookup and Highlighter

@Glen K. Curry  I apologize for the issues here. As I mentioned earlier, there is a bug in Feedbear and I am still waiting to hear back from them. If you are dissatisfied with this, you are welcome to create new posts and I will make sure to leave them as their own posts.

@Ali Pope  I've switched to Olive Tree!  Thanks, but the bureaucracy here is incredible.  I'm not going to repost only to have the subject buried and ignored again!  What it took a thoughtless programmer only minutes takes a committee and literally MONTHS to undue, if that ever happens.  Although I invested hundreds of dollars over the years, I had no problem leaving. Great Customer Service
  • leave the note snippets. with careful wording in the first line of each notes tagged to the common verse you can create a quick precept upon precept picture.

I know that each of us have different needs and use Logos in different ways, but I prefer the new selection menu to the old one.

Just had a chat with customer support about this again, and it's pretty clear there are no intent to change this back. Imo it's a big shame as this has effectively crippled the interface of the app with regards to interacting with the original languages in any meaningful fashion, for those that use the feature a lot. Even making an option in settings for choosing a "minimal" popup box (non-intrusive like the old one) would be light years ahead of what this is now. Note that there was a topic with more upvotes on this that was somehow lost when they merged several threads (and retained the one with the least upvotes). Logos used to be a tool for serious academics, and while I appreciate it becoming a more general tool (which is good), effectively crippling the UI with regards to serious study is so bad.

@Sam Shelton  that's fair, but as you can see the sentiment from many of us is that this isn't great. Regardless it doesn't have to be either or - a setting for choosing between minimal and full pop-up dialogue would give everyone what they need. (I don't understand why the new dialogue box could possibly be better, but I'll digress there.)

Also, I have to agree with Glen Curry, that the red tape here is absolutely incredible.

@Ali Pope  it's been ten months. will there be a fix for this?
