Active slide should be anchored to the center of the timeline strip

Currently when going through a presentation, the active slide gets anchored to the far right of the timeline strip such that only a single future slide is visible with the entire rest of the timeline being past slides. This would be significantly more useful if the active slide was anchored to the center of the timeline, so that the user can see more than one slide ahead and so they can jump the same number of slides forwards or backwards as needed.

The "grid preview" is not a good substitute for this functionality.

Hi Stephen, out of interest, why is the "grid preview" not a good substitute? I've found all our operators much prefer the grid view, and it definitely solves the above problem.

@jon-hole-58, the preferred view here is the full preview with the timeline. It works well except for the limited forward visibility.

The full preview keeps the operator focused on the active slide, where with the wall of slides it's easier to mentally read ahead without actually advancing the slide. I'm not a fan of the very thin active slide indicator in the grid view or the fact that the active slide is not anchored to a single position. Also, the grid view suffers from a similar problem where the overall layout is biased towards showing more historical slides.

We would like this as well. The grid view makes the current slide too small, and is harder to pick out the current slide

Would it be possible to set the yellow timeline arrow to be in the middle of the timeline? This way we can see more than 1 upcoming slide. Putting it in the middle will allow us to see a few previous and a few upcoming slides.

This would be great. I hate only being able to see the 1 next slide

Or if it could be customized even to "right", "left", or "middle" that would also be more effective.
  • Definitely agree with moving the pointer, but also to see the service order on the left advance as well keeping there red arrow in the middle

@Jon Hole  I prefer the Grid view as well, but it does not solve the above problem as you have to continually move the slides so you can see the upcoming ones. It keeps the 'highlighted' one near the bottom and it would be much easier if it stayed to the center.

Done! In our most recent release (>= 3.2.0.38) you can find settings in Settings > General to control the pinning behavior of the Timeline. Thanks for your feedback!
