Hide slides that we probably won't use (but we might) or we're not using this week but we usually do

Powerpoint has the ability to "hide" slides so that you can see them in edit mode, but if you use the keyboard arrows or click on the preview arrows to advance, the program will skip over them and not display them to the audience.

There are several uses for such slides.

1. Biggest is we have a pretty standard weekly service format, but it does vary occasionally. When we're not using a particular service item in that spot, it would be nice to keep it in there (cuz we'll probably use it next week) but to "hide" it for this week so that it doesn't automatically display. Yes we can click around it, but that's more prone to error. In powerpoint the hidden slides are "grayed out" or cross-hatched in the navigator so remind the presenter that they are hidden.

2. We have times when we're not sure if we're going to do a particular segment. We might decide during the service, go/no-go. It would be nice to put it in there, but hide it, so that it doesn't come up automatically, but still be able it click it to show it if we do chose to use it.

3. It's nice to have "utility" slides, which contain notes/hints to editors, and people running the presentation, but which should not be displayed to the congregation. Yes, there's a "notes" tab, but you have to explicitly click on that, where as "hidden" slides are right in front of you.

And, I'm sure, you can imagine other uses.

I would find this useful as well. It's a familiar feature of PowerPoint that we don't have in Proclaim.
  • This would be very helpful, we have some slides that are often used like a pastor name slide but that changes each week, would be nice to just hide it so it doesn't show in the grid preview (or maybe is grayed out) but would easily be accessible if needed that week last minute or in future weeks.

In the newest release (>= 3.2.0.38) you can right-click on any service item and show or hide it! This will keep it in the Order of Service, but remove it from preview view

Right-click the slide, and then select Hide Slide. The slide now shows a slash through the slide number to indicate that it's hidden.
