Sync - what does it actually do?

What does sync do? I can't find any notes that say what it does, just that some don't like the privay risks with it. In my logos.com account settings I can't find anythig that I have sync-ed, so just don't understand what this feature is supposed to do for me. Enlightenment appreciated.

User data such as the following is synced from your computer to Logos servers:
- Licenses
- Preferences and custom settings
- Collections
- Prioritizations
- Note files
- diagrams
- clippings
- Highlighting
- Bookmarks
- Prayer lists
- Last-read location
- etc
This data is then synced among all your machines (and even library.logos.com and the iPhone app) to make work across machines seamless. Furthermore, it makes installing Logos onto a new computer a snap as all of your books, user files, and preferences are automatically imported and downloaded.
Here is a video summarizing the basics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDMraLWFxbc
There has been some concern among users about the privacy of this system. There ahve been no known instances of anybody stealing personal information using Logos sync. Alternatively, you could set internet use to "no" and then not have any of your data backed up or synced.

Thanks, Jacob - very helpful. So if I only have logos on one computer, and don't use an iPhone, there is no real benefit for sync until i want to move Logos to a new computer? and I can't access what it syncs through my account, only through another copy of an installed programme?

Possible benefit for one computer is reinstalling Logos 4 after hard disk failure - sync information downloaded along with resources.
Another possibility is running PC version in virtual machine on Mac - two Logos 4 libraries on one computer.

Jacob, this is cool. Any idea how I can actually access my note files, clippings or Prayer Lists on my iPhone - as I don't find them there at all and this would be extremely helpful?

This is a major benefit. All your notes and highlighting and favorites, etc., are backed up automatically, so they get restored in the event of a hard disk failure. It's just a matter of when not if you might need this feature. Hard disks have a habit of failing just about when you'd been thinking of getting a new computer anyway...

You can't yet access your note files, clippings, or prayer lists (or highlights or a number of other things) on iPhone yet. But your prioritizations are honored on iPhone (& mobile web). iPhone will sync your furthest read location. Also, your reading plans are synced across machines.
