Beta 5: Prioritizing Collections

Hadn't tried this in awhile but after seeing "The IVP Bible Background Commentary: New Testament" pop up as my top-ranked Passage guide commentary option, I figured something had to be done.

I don't know when this came about, so it could be old news to some, but prioritizing collections seems functional.

There are existing collections for commentary sets. I found this out in Beta 4, I think, when revisiting collections I'd made to cover commentary sets and found them to be inexplicably duplicated. I removed the collections I'd made by rules/filtering but hadn't thought to try prioritization then.

Tried it tonight, and it worked just like I thought it should. I opened the Library, typed in "NIGTC", grabbed a vol and shoved it into the prioritization list. The collection name showed, not the individual volume. Cool. So I quick added some other series to the list. Now my Passage Guide is as it should be.

    Rick,

Be careful. It's not fully functional yet.

Check your NIGTC: The commentary of Matthew will not be prioritised.

Hermeneia: no Acts, Matthew 1-7, Mark

    Pillar: no Collosians

FOTL, Witherington's Socio-rhetorical, AYBC, Black's, Cornerstone, Formations, Lenski, Eerdman's Critical COmmentaries: none of these can be prioritised as a series.

    Hi Damian.

I guess my point was more "it works now" where it didn't work before. The plumbing is there and appears to be functional. Collections are a data problem that can (and to my understanding are) being worked on.

    Rick,

I understand that. I was quite surprised on Beta 3 when I dragged across one SESB title and it prioritised as a series.

Nevertheless, I think people need to know that in some cases it only "appears" to be functional - this appearance can be a little deceptive. You used NIGTC as an example - the metadata is not all there yet for this series.

We're all still waiting (happily / patiently) for the ability to update metadata without downloading complete resources :)
