Layouts: Resources automatically open in right-side panel

On iPad, in layouts with two vertical panels, I would like to have the Passage Guide on the left side and the, when I click resources, have them open in the right-side panel. Presently, the first resource does so. But after that, all other resources open a whole new layout. But the whole point is to remain in the same workspace, right?

    This would be great. Opening the resource in another tab defeats the purpose of being able to split the screen.
