Highlight and right click to create cross reference

It would be cool to have the ability to create a hyperlinked cross reference outside (or as well as) the original way in notes (where you can add anchors). This could expand so that you could have a sidebar when looking at a reference to show cross references, as well as include any cross references provided by a publisher.
Immediately, i'm thinking of biblical cross references (in versions of the bible) but I could also see this being worthwhile with other texts. (add cross references between two resources that may be talking about the same topic).
Again, I know that technically, the note system allows for this to an extent, but it's not as intuitive or full-fledged as it could be, and anchors and notes are clunky.
