In revising their Greek Testaments, and in their updated translations of the Latin New Testament, both Desiderius Erasmus and Theodore Beza wrote "Annotationes," or comments on the reasoning behind their translations from the Greek. These would be remarkably valuable for those of us studying older Bible translations.
