Library Order in Release Date and Filter to 25 Years

As in academic older books than 25 years of its first release are outdated, I would love if I can order the Library to the release date. Plus cut off what is older than 25 years. Especially for search results, so no outdated books showing up.

@Fabian once you have filtered the library with your search criteria, select all in the main area and create a collection. You will be able to search that selection specifically afterward.

Maybe a slider for this feature would be great to choose 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, years.

You can do this in the Library

The Publication column allows you to sort by Publication Date (if you don't see this column, right-click the column header bar and select it from the dropdown). And the pubdate:>2000 filter I am using in the Library find box filters the Library to just show books published since the year 2000

I tried this to find books for my preferred period and it worked: pubdate:>1950 AND pubdate:<1980

Many thanks. Question is it possible to left out outdated material in a search or do I have always to put the parameters in? I ask also for the Insight.

It is worth noting that many times, it is not the date of publication of the print version that this library search finds, but the year it was released in Logos. Checking the citation information is essential to verify when it was actually published.

Thanks for the query, @Veli Voipio. Sadly, when I run it, roughly 40% of the results shown are from Patristics or Antiquity. What about a column with "composed in …" and one "first published" ?

The above query will find that book published in 2000, but one cannot distinguish the date of first release.

Fascinating - I know of only one academic friend whose department was so dependent on "new" - a folklorist, surprisingly. I am astonished this would be true in Biblical Studies in some institutions.

At the doctoral level, one's research must not only account for the works that have shaped the disciplines involved, but must also catch up to the latest. There is an expectation that one would work with the latest advances available so as to produce research as "current" as possible. Scholars know their fields well enough to notice when research is outdated.

Expectations at graduate level can vary quite a bit depending on how academically stringent the seminary or university is.

@Francis Good point - I didn't mean to imply one didn't have to be up with the latest, only that the latest may be a very small part of an issue. My experience is primarily with institution with reputations for very high standards. I was once docked on a paper with quotations using different transliteration schemes - I did not know that a paper must be consistent to the point of changing a quotation.
