Who Accepts and Marks a Question as Answered?

Regarding answers to questions, The "Logos Community Overview Guide" says the following.

Question Posts: Use these for questions needing answers. Once a best answer is accepted, the post is marked as resolved.

Who determines this and flags the question as answered?

I think I figured the thread creator can do this from a reply, but will wait for confirmation.

Justin, I checked the "Answer" icon at the bottom of your reply. But I've since learned that somewhere there is another place to mark the question as "Accepted". I would have thought only I could mark the question as "answered" and I wouldn't do that unless I "accepted" the reply as "answering" my question. So I can't say I see the need for both options. 🤔

here has been a debate about that. In some cases the answered status is being applied automatically

I noticed the same thing. I created a post and intentionally was waiting a bit before marking it answered but somehow either someone else or the system automatically marked it answered. Not sure if it’s a bug or by design.

As I mentioned above, in some cases the system is doing it automatically.
