Search Window

Hi,

I use logos with many windows open at once. When I try to find a verse containing an index word, but am not sure to locate the verse in the Bible, I use "search" function with the index word entering. It will show all the verses containing the index word. However, when I find the right verse for that word and click on that verse, it will open another window. As I want to use the same window, I enter the book and verse in the left upper small window/field, nothing happens. Before Logos was upgraded, I could do that and it would show the book of the Bible and the verse in the same window. Is there any way to go to the index verse without opening another window?

Thanks.

Jacob

Hi Jacob, any chance you can provide a screenshot of what you're experiencing for a visual reference? Also, which OS, Logos Version and whether you're a Subscriber.

    Logos 10 - OpenSuse Tumbleweed, Windows 11, Android 16 & Android 14

Hi, Frank, the above is a screen shot. When I search the word "crucify" from ASV, you will see the list of verses below. I reviewed and I found the verse Matthew 26:2 is the verse I was looking for. If I click on Matthew 26:2 on the left page, it will open right page, that is, another window. If I enter "Matt 26:2 in the left upper small search window shown Matthew 20:19, nothing happens. I used to use this small search window to enter a book with a verse. I just want to use the same window I searched the word "crucify." I am a subscriber and my logos version is Logos 9 with software version 37.2.12. My computer OS is Window 11. Thanks.

    Hi Jacob

The search you are showing is an Inline Search which searches for the term within your open book, so it is filtering the ASV to just show verses containing that word. So when you find Matt 26:2 you are actually at that location within the ASV. When you click it you are instructing Logos to open a new copy of the ASV to that verse.

If you want to study the context around the verse you have found you can extend the range of what is displayed to paragraph or pericope

    Does that help at all?

Hi, Graham, I really appreciate your help. It really helps. Can I extend the range to a chapter, rather than paragraph?

    Hi Jacob

    Glad it was useful

Can I extend the range to a chapter, rather than paragraph?

Once you have done the search you can only "group" the results by verse, paragraph or perocipe.

But you can do the search within a chapter by choosing Chapter in the Match within section of the dropdown in the screenshot in my original post.
