AI credit refill Date and Time: PST?
Hi,
When you say Credit refill: January 9, 2025, is it based on my time (GMT +8) or PST time (GMT -8)? Thanks.

I have used AI maybe twice. So the reset date and time are, for me, unimportant at this time. But I would like to know if AI credits will reset on the same day of each month.

@Dr. Danley M. Reed it appears to me to be Pacific Standard Time in the US. For me that is a whole day after they say it will be.

I think my original post is not clear.
Assuming in my case Credit refill: January 9, 2025.
I wish to know, does this mean that the Credit refill will take place at 00:00 January 9, 2025 (PST)
Rationale: before credit refill, I hope to use the balance of the credit to try out some of the AI features that I do not use on a daily basis; eg. translating parts of a book from English to Chinese to assess the quality of the translation, and practical limitations.
I spent one night … I still have not figured out the limit: how many words / paragraph / sections / pages / chapter … that we can meaningfully select for translation. eg. when I select a few paragraphs over 1-2 pages, the translation breaks before the end of a sentence … I ended up having to spend time to find the breaking point so that I can reduce the amount of text in the selection.
I also found out that small selection like one sentence vs a few paragraph, the translation result may be different; I suppose bigger selection provides better context for the translation engine.

I’m not exactly sure what time the refresh takes place, and I haven’t seen it written down anywhere.
I don’t use much translation, so I’m not sure how much it consumes, but I understand from Logos that it’s at the heavier end of the scale.
You probably know that AI allocation consumption is based on AI tokens. Each month, you receive an allocation of tokens, and as you use various AI tools, these tokens are consumed. Usage is fairly amorphous, as there isn’t a 1:1 relationship between a request and a response. Tokens are consumed based on the work AI performs to generate a response.
We’re told by Logos that some AI tools consume more tokens than others. Translation and Smart Search with Synopsis consume the most, while summarizing, question generation, and Smart Search without Synopsis consume much less. It seems there’s no way to precisely calculate what percentage of AI tokens will be used simply by counting how many times you run an AI process. This isn’t specific to Logos; it’s the same for all AI services. Large corporations that offer unlimited tokens for free have hidden the significant cost of usage from us.
Logos advises that we should be able to use AI thousands of times. Based on my calculations, that assumes usage at the lower end of AI consumption. In my first month, I reached 80% of my token allocation within two weeks, mostly by asking many Smart Search questions with Synopsis. Some of us requested the implementation of an AI tracker to help us better understand how much we were using.
Adding to the ambiguity, Logos occasionally increases the token allocation as wholesale prices drop due to competition. I expect that eventually, with increased market competition, we won’t have to worry as much about our usage.
To get even a general idea of your consumption, you’ll need to track your usage over a longer period. I’d suggest at least two weeks to gain a better understanding.
Perhaps someone who uses the translation tool more frequently could provide a more detailed analysis of usage .

It appears that there is a bug in the display of the date. It should be showing your local time. We've created a case to get this fixed.

Antony, Thanks for your useful comments.
I have played with translating Brian Sanders - The 6 Seasons of Calling. The following is my subjective usage experience.
There is about 99 pages. However, I have to pick a couple of para (less then 1-2 pages) at a time for translation from English to Chinese (I still have not figured out how to work around this limit yet which post some usability issue.
Eg. If my goal is to translate 1 Chapter (which is too big for translation in one go), ie. If I select a bigger chunk of text allowed for translation, I have to manually go figure out where it breaks to continue the process till I reach the end of the Chapter).
On the positive side: This exercise consumed about 5% of my Logos Pro's AI credits, on the last day before my Credit refill. Honestly, I am quite please (subjective) with the AI credits granted at this point.
