Each time I open a new book, I have an "Insights" tab that opens on one side. I don't want this tab to open. Ever.

How do I turn this tab off?

Bible by Bible. There is no universal setting.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

However, once you have closed it, it will not open the next time you open that Bible.

Perhaps you'll be comforted to hear that this behavior has improved over time. The insights panel only appears in Bibles, and it opens in every Bible by default. Once closed in any given Bible, the default setting will change for that Bible so that the next time it is opened, the insights panel will remain closed.

What I did is take some time to go through all of my Bibles at once and close the insights panel. This is preferable to me over having to be pestered over time by the panel's unwelcome appearance in each of my various Bibles as I use them. This way, it's once and done. You shouldn't see it again until you actually want to.
