Why is search syntax so different for a library search?

I would expect a library search of "title:(introduction OR survey) to find books with either of those terms in the title, but it doesn't. Instead I need to search "title:(introduction, survey)"

It's not intuitive and certainly not consistent with how book searches are parsed.

And the web store has yet a third syntax! Sometimes I can't find a book on the website so I get it in the Add Books part of the Library Pane and sometimes I can't find it in the Library, so I go to the website.

Does anyone know if this feature was taken away? I have used it several times but I went to scan a book into my library and I am not seeing it under the menu.
