Is there an equivalent of the Accordance "INFER" search in Logos?

Accordance has an INFER search that allows you to compare phrasing across two texts. So, for example, you can search for any 7-word phrase (with one word being missing or different) that might be similar in Micah and Joel.

Of course you can adjust those parameters, and the search works in any language (as long as the languages of the two texts being compared is the same).

Does anyone know if there's a way to find the same thing in Logos?

(BTW, here's Rick Mansfield demonstrating the INFER search in Accordance :-)

🤔 I had my 2020 COVID hair (no recent haircut) in that video! And I've lost weight since then! And switched jobs to the best Bible software platform!

No - I had a discussion with Bob P. about this many years ago.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Might be ripe as a request to get upvoted.

I haven't seen it yet, but I would use it for consistency.

Yes, please request it on the Feedback forum … it is a quite cleaver algorithm.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

@Mark Allison While you're looking for stuff to consider posting feedback on, four other things I haven't been able to do so far are the Analysis Graph, Analysis Bar Chart, Table Stats, Table Chart Stats.

Could you post examples so we Logosian only folks can see what our nearest equivalent is?

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I had to look this up to understand the difference between this and a regular search that can provide somewhat similar results (actually maybe not)…and I have to say I would use this feature a lot! I like the ability to have a verse selected rather than searching the words themselves, and then being able to change the length of the phrase with just a number with the whole phrase or verse in the mix instead of having to delete words that will change the results.

The Infer search in Accordance is extremely powerful. In the attached example, I've searched for any 6-word phrase that appears in both Isaiah and Micah. I've specified that one word can be missing and one can be different.

Note that this works in any two texts using the same language. It's particularly useful when dealing with original languages. Note that I could compare Tobit in Greek with any of the Church Fathers in Greek. And I'm not specifying a specific phrase; I'm looking for ANY wording that they might have in common.

In the example below, everything in red in the right-side pane also appears in Isaiah. It's just showing me the first hit in Isaiah in the left pane, but I could navigate to the next hit as I see fit.

I wrote about the INFER search here and here, too, but I think MJ was looking for examples of what Nathan mentioned: Analysis Graph, Analysis Bar Chart, Table Stats, Table Chart Stats.

Ah, gotcha. I don't know enough about Logos yet, but it seems like the Analysis Bar Chart is pretty much the same.

There's a little more granularity with Accordance:

Except what is still missing in Accordance: To split them to the books.

The Table Bar Chart in Accordance breaks down the hits by book. Is that what you meant Fabian?

The "Table Bar Chart" in Accordance and the "Morph Search Charts" in Logos look very similar.

Thanks, I thought it was the same issue, like the hits per 1000 etc. where you cannot break them to the amount of words in a book.

    Thanks

There's a little more granularity with Accordance:

Not to the level of Accordance but check out Tools > Passage > Passage Analysis > Morph River

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks MJ. I keep forgetting about the Morph River, which is pretty cool.

I am a bit late to this thread due to some family stuff, but +1000 on the INFER command. It is something I will boot up Accordance to solely run.

By the way, the source of my comment about the analytics graphs is I'm doing some research where I need to perform analytics on the SBL GNT (the one GNT I don't have "over there" and likely won't). John Fallahee helped me locate the majority of the analytics I needed. What I posted above is what I couldn't locate.
