Grandfathered In No Need for Subscription Renewals.

I called twice over the past several months. I want to reach out to the Logos Company requesting that old timers like myself be carried over into the new LOGOS system without having to sign up for ongoing renewable subscription. I have been with LOGOS for 10 years. I am retired and on a fixed income - but still serving as a lead pastor at a small church in eastern Oregon. I would love to be able to upgrade but do so in the way that used to be available for me [do so one time with no ongoing renewable subscriptions]. If LOGOS could to this for customers like me - I would not feel that I am being cut out of the LOGOS (losing the ability to upgrade that I was told was available to me when I first purchase the program). Can I please receive a personal contact from the company - the ones that have the power/authority who could approve of our being "grandfathered" into the new LOGOS resources without having to pay ongoing renewable subscriptions. Please contact me in person yes or no.

You can still upgrade without the need for a subscription.

Is this something new? Did I miss something, last I knew was that if you had the L10 FFS you had to pay for a two year subscription to get the LFL, otherwise there is no upgrade option other than keeping the engine updated with bug fixes.... Which if the OP is concerned about just updating, that can still be done, if the OP is speaking about upgrading like we did from L9 to L10 for example - that only exists via subscription.

Basic engine upgrades are free, always have been and always will be for at least the next 10,00 years +/-

Feature and Resource upgrades cost $. Resources, you can buy like always. Features, if you don't subscribe, you are hung at dawn.

From what I've read on the forums, there seems to be a strong correlation between those who don't want to pay for a subscription and those who think AI isn't helpful (I'm being generous here). Since AI is the best feature of Logos's new updates, I'd imagine that these users wouldn't want to upgrade anyway.

That's an interesting observation.

I haven't been shy, not seeing any new features useful, for several years (for me). So, another few years waiting, should do it.

Tbh, I didn't switch from Accordance to Logos because of new features (or lack thereof). I switched because I don't think Accordance is going to be around in 10 years, and I don't want to waste my money buying new resources for it.

On the other hand, even if Logos never releases any new features for the next 10 years, at least I know they're a healthy company and will still be offering updates in 10 years.

Your decision to switch seems prudent from an investment protection standpoint. While Accordance is a capable platform, Logos’ market position and financial strength make it a safer long-term bet.

And we hope that the decisions they are making now - allow for a healthy business going forward. It is a risk and a gamble that they are taking - time will tell if it winds up worth it long term.

Many of us wanted a one-time purchase, but Logos made it plain that is not the direction anymore. A number of us who brought this up with Logos as a major concern told them that we wanted to own features after we subscribe, so they came up with the Logos Fallback License that allows you to retain the features in your subscription level that aren't AI or cloud-based after subscribing for two years.

The cost of a subscription for two years may be less than purchasing the full feature set was with Logos 10 (it was for me). You may want to consider giving Logos a chance on this subscripton model for two years, obtain the features that will be yours with the Logos Fallback License, and then reassess what's next for you after two years.

There’s no such a thing as getting grandfathered from paying to own to being subscribed for free for the rest of your life. The models are apples 🍏 🍎 and oranges 🍊 🍊I still recommend Logos as it’s easier now for people to try the software and own the free engine and buy books.

hmm, I think you may be on to something as I think your observations about the strong correlation are correct. I also think some may just want to buy the features outright.
