The step to next/previous feature is great. For Bibles, the Article selection should step by pericope instead of chapters. Chapters is already a selection possibility.
The article option steps by pericope in the Bibles that have them. It would be nice to have the submenu note this.
Thanks for the info. All of the following bibles have pericope titles. Only three jump by pericope. So it is more of a bible formatting issue than a software issue. Hopefully more bibles are formatted to take advantage of the feature! ESV & ESV-CE - jumps by chapter RSV2CE - jumps by chapter NLT - jumps by chapter NABRE - jumps by chapter NIV - jumps by chapter CSB - jumps by chapter NASB95 - jumps by chapter NET & NET2e - jumps by pericope NRSV-CE - jumps by pericope
This is a user set parameter
I checked a couple of the Bibles he indicated (which have pericopes); even when you set the parameter to Article, it steps to the next Chapter, unlike the NRSV-CE which correctly steps to the next pericope.
Can you give me your examples to test? Any that do not jump by pericope should be reported as a bug.
I tried the ESV, NIV, and CSB.
Mr. Smith. Just do exactly what I did. 1) Choose a bible 2) Make sure "Step to next/previous" is set to Article 3) Hit the up and down arrows and observe what happens
I gave you the results from 11 different bibles already. The data speaks for itself. 1) The feature does work as advertised (stepping to pericopes when available) 2) Only a few bibles are formatted properly to take advantage of this feature
(I just checked again as some bibles were recently update. Interestingly, NRSV doesn't jump to pericope, but NRSV-CE does!)
PS: Thanks for the interest!
MJ (she) has already written up a bug report for this. I’m using my phone right now and I won’t trouble myself to look for the link to post here.
ETA: I'm back on my laptop; here is her post:
@John Z.
The NRSV does jump by pericope for me which is why I thought you had the unit of step set incorrectly.
This is a big issue. Most of us study by pericope, not by chapter. Please fix this for all Bibles (especially the ESV please!)
Agreed. It is a bit disappointing that 8 months have passed since this has been reported and nothing has been done. Agreed that ESV and ESV-CE should be a priority.
Can someone give us an update in this bug? It has been over a year since it was reported. At least share a plan on when it will get fixed.
There are no plans to 'fix' as it's not considered a bug.
You can create a feature request, as Andrew suggested.
I get that this may not be a traditional "software bug," but it is at the very least a formatting issue for most of the Bibles that you publish or an incomplete logic issue in the software. Do you plan to fix the formatting issues for the Bibles where the pericope feature does not work correctly - which is MOST of your published Bibles? Alternately, there may be a software solution that allows all the Bibles to work. Besides, what should I title the feature… "Please fix the bug so the "Article" advance feature works with ALL Bibles and not just a few!"? Do you use your software? Do you not use the Article advance feature in your Bibles? How can you find this acceptable to only be a partial solution.

I would like to see A.I. used to analyze my sermon content. I would like to know of scriptures used, subjects/themes, etc.
When using the Word Tree, it would be great if we could hover over the lines to see the verse number.
As I become more proficient with the Study Assistant, I've realized that if I could store my personal methodologies—many of which I have for various purposes—I could input a scriptural reference, such as 1 Peter 4:12-19, and request the AI to apply methodology X to it. Since some of my methodologies are a bit longer than…
I know logos is able to print up flash cards, BUT can we get a tool that does flash cards?! I’m envisioning a simple displays Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic/Ugaritic/etc. word then touch screen/click, ‘turn’ card then definition. I don’t know how this doesn’t already exist. Ideally this would include frequency word lists that we…
The static set of Reading Plans are insufficient and the ability to create our own custom reading plans is needed. Reading plans need to be self-created, customizable and sharable with others. A reading plan keeps one in the Word, but linear or sequential and fixed time-frames is not flexible enough. A reading plan should…
