Hi, new logos user here. Do I have a "legacy fallback license"?

Update/Edit: Called logos, the fellow said that he can see how it would seem misleading, and will recommend that they change how that looks, but it is only for those who meet the requirements (of having purchased logos 10, etc.). I asked that he try to do something for me, and he acted like he would, but I'm not super hopeful. Also, just to clarify and be fair to logos, I checked today and it only displays the fallback license after you purchased. I actually almost switched to the 2 year at once subscription, until I clicked on the monthly tab and it indicated it was included with my current plan.

Initially, I was under the impression that after paying for logos for 2 years (a big selling point for me), I would be able to cancel and retain all of the offline features that were included in my package (pro), but now I am not so sure. As you can see from attached photos, when I view my current monthly subscription plan, it indicates that the legacy fallback license is included.

However when you view the faq ( under https://www.logos.com/subscription-faq ), under the question "who is eligible for the legacy fallback license?" it indicates that it is only for those who have purchased a logos 10 or earlier base package, and, being a brand new customer, I have not done that. Also, under this apparently official statement, we are told that the license "won't be offered to new customers". This could have changed since this was posted, but even from the logos website, it seems to give conflicting information. Any clarification about my possession of a license would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @Tyler Graber - Welcome to the Logos Forums!

I can see where the confusion could be centered - unfortunately barring a change of business decisions from Logos, as stated in the one picture - the latest is that new users (that did not buy a qualifying L10 Feature Set) are not eligible for the LFL….

Also you sadly are not even allowed to receive a partial/prorated refund if you no longer desired to be a customer… (Again, barring a change in business decision)

I'd assume FL owes him a FB license, judging from the image?

You would think.... But they'd likely say it's noted under the learn more....

I really feel for these new users/customers if Logos stands firm in their decision(s).....

They may never know the customer centered Logos that kept many of us around for so long… Hopefully it changes …

But we'll be the "I walked to school....." Grand parental sounding Logosians talking about the Golden Era, when you bought your product, weren't forced to subscribe to keep access to features, didn't pay for OS Parity of Features you own....

Well.. that's unfortunate. I'll call them tomorrow and provide an update with what they say about this. Also, when you click on learn more, it actually has no details about the FBL, it simply scrolls down the page to the frequently asked questions about subscriptions. The last question on the page is shown below. It is under that link that you learn that you actually do not own an FBL. That is, if I'm understanding all this information properly.

Welcome to the forums, @Tyler Graber. When you say that you are a new customer, how new of a customer are you?

Technically, you don't need to have bought a Logos 10 base package, just a feature set. Did you, by chance, purchase a feature set? It does not sound like you did, but I figured I'd ask to make sure. You might consider calling Logos Customer Service, especially in light of the screenshot you posted (if that is, in fact, your screenshot and not something from a different post). I know some people say it would be a futile thing to do, but you never know until you try.

Thank you, I'm brand new, created this account and purchased the subscription today, so no feature set purchased or available to purchase as far as I know, just the pro plan and a bronze library.

Edit: They also are my personal screenshots, just taken

I see your confusion, and I hope they give you something. The main page, where you select your subscription plan and move on to pay, has no information on requiring Logos 10 FFS it just implies you get the LFL. I don't see how they could expect you to dive into the forums or go to a different page to get more information when the FAQ below, which is located on the main page, doesn't state the requirement. They should have an asterisk/footnote marking additional info below, but they don't. At least I don't see it.

Get a hold of them soon and don't wait until later.

Oh wow, super new! Welcome to Logos! I hope you can get something figured out. Also, I hope you do enjoy using Logos Bible Software, as it has been a great benefit to me personally, professionally, and academically.

In all honesty - if Logos does not make this right any misled (yes this is misleading advertising (whether intended or an oversight - who knows) as the LFL should NOT even be visible on the purchase page or advertising for new customers, since it doesn't apply to them….

If I were in a new user's position, like this example - and Logos didn't make it right - I'd be on the phone with the PE firm, posting the warnings all over Social Media, etc…. This is just simply wrong - I hope they do the right thing!

Or! They changed the policy and forgot to update the FAQ page!! Always look for the pony (pink being preferable, of course).

But I'd assume making the LFL open to just 'anyone' might put the kabosh on unimpressed folks re-upping 2 years from now. Hmm, tough call.
