Having been using Logos for almost 12 years now (12 years sounds right…), I'd like to think I'm advanced in my use of Logos, but not nearly an expert. There's so much to use, so much more to learn, and some things that I don't use for one reason or another.

There's so much to use, so much more to learn, and some things that I don't use for one reason or another.

I'd say that if you're using 50% of the platform, you're making great use of it, @Jonathan Bradley.

I don't think the answers have anything to do with the question (or its fill-out explanation). Logos does what I want it to do. So I'm perfectly comfortable with a 'beginner'-'intermediate' answer. Logos' more 'advanced' features go in a direction that I view as misplaced.

Intermediate-level user. After about 12 years of using Logos, I liken it to Microsoft Excel in that you can accomplish a great deal with a fairly basic knowledge level of the software. My closest family and friends consider me an expert at both… but having been around true experts, I know better. I marvel at the knowledge level of the most devout members of this forum and I am constantly humbled as I realize what a high percentage of posts I skip over because I have no clue what is being said. But that’s OK. I am more than comfortable plugging along as I use this amazing software to prepare my bi-weekly adult Bible Study lesson.

Intermediate through Logos 10.

I've used Logos for well over a decade, and am very familiar and comfortable with all of the features that I care about. Most of the new features in the most recent release are things that I don't care about, and (at least so far) the subscription-only model has been a deal-breaker for me.

Yes, my comfort level ranges from Beginner to Advanced, depending on task usage in Logos and/or Verbum. Thankful for many friendly forum discussions: have learned a lot while still have a lot to learn (at times, my "advanced" comfort feels like a "beginner").

Learning Hebrew language has search desire for vowel patterns, especially for words that sound similar as some Hebrew letter consonants sound alike. Facebook has numerous Hebrew tongue twister examples: e.g. "The seaweed appeared and left then ran to the supply". Logos & Verbum has many search options while currently lacking the ability to search Hebrew for similar sounding words (with Male/Female variations).

I think I'm a pretty advanced user. I am comfortable with pretty much every feature except syntax search, where I always need the wiki open on the other screen. But the gap between the different levels continues to narrow as the software gets easier to use.

After about a year of owning Logos and coming from Accordance I still have quite a bit to learn. I am consistently adjusting my workflow and changing options in my primary layouts to work better with the Logos framework.

Finding there are many different ways to get an answer to a particular query. I liken it to the difference of shopping in Europe vs. shopping in the U.S. In some places in Europe you visit the butcher, bakery, etc. in their own respective shops in the U.S. you go to the super center and get most everything in one location. I am trying to get my Logos layout to feel more like the super center. Fact book helps out quite a bit.

I use factbook more and find it a launching point for things that were done independently. With that said, with the new organization of the interface, I have to look around more…. thus factbook helps. Next time…. Gradual changes LOL

I have been using this program for over 25 years. I believe my first MP Seminar was in 2009. Since then I graduated from the concept of using a Ferrari to drive to the mailbox. I am a MP subscriber and learn/ review a little bit every week. I would still not consider myself to be an expert simply because I am not proficient with the exegetical guide.

I'd say I have a solid grasp on about 1/3 of Logos' capabilities. I know concerning the other 2/3 that I have a lot to learn.

I would say I'm at Intermediate level. At the moment, I'm still learning how to make full use of Logos, having come to it from Accordance back in 2023. However, in my work as a Bible teacher and writer, I am finding Logos' many features extremely useful and very informative. Among other things, it has helped speed up my research and preparation work considerably, making these tasks so much easier.

I will call myself a beginner, I am using Logos since L10 and I am a mobile user only. So limited with features and just as I learn something with logos, then they decide to make changes. So its always new learning for me. I am also struggling to figure out what the proper way of using logos mobile is.

I wish Logos would consider holding free all-day seminars around the country like Accordance used to. I was one of the instructors, and it was so cool to see how much someone could learn in a few hours. It was always easy to find a church or school to host us. We provided snacks and the cost to the company was usually covered by user purchases during the seminar.

Mark, MP Seminars handles the formal training. Not sure they are back to live seminars, but they have online content. Learnlogos.com also has some good content.

Intermediate with expert in some areas down to zip-zero-nada in others. Firstly, this is because I am more acutely aware of the areas I don't know than some. Secondly, because I am more painfully aware of the areas in which I don't trust Logos tagging, although it has been improving in quality. Thirdly, because Logos is slanted towards supporting a critical method that is the antithesis of critical methods I use. But would I give up my Logos - not until eyesight and/or mind are gone.

@Jason Stone (Logos) I have shift between webapp and mobile app, as webapp cant do clippings. So at this point in my studies with where I got hold of Logos10 and things are changing, it feels that logos creates a frustration in my study and I find myself just going back to the old fashion of reading my physical Bible and making use of my physical books.

I attended an MP Seminar back in the L4 days. It was outstanding. Mo was a great teacher and person…miss him.

But there's one little word in Mark's post you may have missed…."free." Such seminars would have to be in-house, and come out of the marketing budget, but as Mark suggests, they would probably pay for themselves if done well.

I was never familiar with their all day seminars, but I am very familiar with their free webinars. The webinars (as you know), often spoke of a specific topic (such as a passage of Scripture), and explained how to use Accordance to get the most out of the passage or task. Multiple ways of doing something was also shown. The webinars then provided discount codes to provoke people to buy the modules demonstrated. The webinars were all free, but also often grades (beginner, intermediate, advanced) so people knew if they wanted to sign up. People could ask questions, and then after that the webinar was online for free for others. When I came to Logos I looked for the equivalent, but I have instead found it to be a REALLY frustrating process to learn even basic functions.

I agree that MP Seminars are very helpful. However, there are two issues. First, when I first tried to find videos I found the Logos "Help" videos, which were not helpful at all. (I am sure they are if someone has a very specific issue, but not for learning the program), and it was weeks before I even discovered MP Seminars. Second, only a few videos are available, and then it tries to get you to pay. I don't remember exactly how much it was, but I remember it was expensive enough that I concluded it was not financially worth it. Maybe if someone is coming to Logos from a paper book or something it might not seem to be an issue, but from Accordance giving FREE webinars were I receive discount codes, to Logos only providing adequate training if I pay a significant chunk was not entertaining.

Yes, when I worked for Accordance we always felt that users who were able to use the software with confidence were our best form of advertising.

I concur with Mark and others that have chimed in about the free seminars.

I will say that MP seminars was top notch. I was able to binge on the lessons and at least get the program ‘usable’ with collections and layouts. However, not everyone will want to invest in the software and then invest again for the training.

I’ve wondered if Logos has some kind agreement or contract with MP Seminars that they won’t ‘compete’ in this area of training?

I think Logos would have huge success with Mark’s idea. There is nothing quite like a live demonstration by an expert to sell a product. Whether it be a kitchen gadget or software, it works. Add a little personality in there and it’s a done deal.

In my limited capacity I demonstrated Logos 10 to a friend and he went home and he upgraded from 8 to 10 immediately.

I think learnlogos.com by John Fallahee does a lot of what you describe here. It's not all free - only sometimes - , but very affordable (especially if compared to MP Seminars).

Here is my advice/ oppinion:

There is no comparison to Logos based free training and MP seminars even under new leadership. I generally attend both free webinars from MP Seminars and Logos… MP Seminars is so much better and on point. Having said that, it would seem to me that if one is investing $1500+ to start in Logos resources, a discounted annual membership of $160 to help you get bang for your buck in a no brainer. I have been an MP subscriber for years and have no regrets. The training seems to be geared for ministry professionals who love to study the Word. They have started in person seminars again. Having been to several over the years, I would recommend this as well because of the level of fellowship with folks who, like yourself, value Bible study enough to invest in a world class tool.

@Jason Stone (Logos) this is just what I meant by switching. When I use the Logos Ipad app Bible Study Builder to make clippings I must go back to webapp to be able to get a ref.ly link. But sadly there is no share option. So with L4 links being disabled I don't have any option to add the clippings document to my Bible Study document in the links section. Also one reason as mentioned as beginner as you learn something and then it gets changed and as mobile user with limited functionality you are stuck with the new changes. Just one big frustration for me using Logos for Bible Study. Old way of reading physical books no bugs or things that was working getting changed or broken with new updates .

I know this conversation has drifted. I found MP to be valuable when purchased at the discount. The deep dive offered with CampLogos cannot be replaced with training snippets. I got a lot out of a Camp taught by Moe and then a newer Camp by Josh. These are still valuable even though there have been application changes. Until recently there was not a lot of change year over year. I look forward to the new Camp for this year… I will wait for the video. This should help fill the gap made by the advancement of the Logos App.

I have learned from the training team at Logos but their focus can be limited by the nature of their mission. I have nothing negative about these dedicated people. The mission of MP is for profit and the price reflects that. The comprehensive all in one deep dive is beneficial unless you want to spend every day in self-study learning every aspect of the program. Others may disagree.

Yep … conversations generally go off message late into page 1 or early page 2. After that, attempts to right the ship are not easy, ending in swiss-cheese conversations thereafter.

Need some help here. Being based in Singapore - it's quite hard to get to speak to someone at Logos for me due to the time difference. Helpful if Logos could help a whats app number that we could call or toll free line. I wanted to leverage the sales to upgrade my logos but wanted to understand them before.
