Reboot! Logos wouldn’t open on my Mac so I forced the app to close then I restarted my laptop and it worked fine again.

I'm on Windows 10. In the process of updating from 38.x to 39 beta 2, Logos also had a "Installing application update…" message that wouldn't go away.
- When I restarted Logos, it stayed on the splash screen for a very long time, looking as if it's frozen.
- When it finally came up, it told me several times that another instance of Logos was running.
- When all those messages stopped, it's back to "normal", but the "Installing application update…" message is still there and wouldn't go away.

I just rebooted my laptop. "Installing application update…" message is still there. I'm now on 39.0 beta 3. Any guidance what to do?

There was a problem in the beta release of Logos 38 which required us to repair our Logos installations. Details are at
While I know you are in beta 39 it might be worth seeing if repairing your installation helps.

Thank you Graham! I followed the steps referenced there and that seems to have fixed the problem (the "Installing application update…" message stops showing). However, it now says "Logos was updated to 39.0" instead of "39.0 beta 3". Should I be concerned about that? (The About box is showing 39.0.400 and I'm still on the beta channel.)
Many thanks,
Peter

NO, RC1 was released today so it is what you picked up.

My problem is quite fascinating. If I hold the CTRL key while double-clicking on Logos, Logos does nothing. It will not open. But if I double-click on Logos only, the splash screen opens and freezes. I'll try the repair option and let y'all know the result. Thank you for the suggestions.

Repair did not work. I'll try the Microsoft fix: turn it off and turn it back on.

Well, this is embarrassing. I should have thought of it. The Microsoft fix worked. Logos opened, albeit a bit slowly, but it opened. Thank you everyone who gave me advice. The Lord bless you.
