With the addition of Bible Lessons to the Sermon/Homily tools, it is more important to have the resources needed for faith formation/sacramental preparation. With one exception these are all in the same series - not necessarily the best or the most representative but simply what I happen to know. Please feel free to offer alternatives. And for those outside of the Lutheran stream, please add your parallel requests.

Amazon blurb:

The Lutheran Confessions series presents a comprehensive introduction of the major writing of the Book of Concord (1580). Designed as an in-depth look at the teaching of the Lutheran Church, the study guides contain 13 sessions in a convenient, learner-centered format.

This study thoroughly reviews two documents: The Smalcald Articles written by Martin Luther, and The Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, written by Philip Melanchthon.

Each session examines a portion of these important historical writings and includes these sections:

Focus -- focuses the participants' attention on the key concept that will be discovered in the session.

Inform -- explores a portion of the Confession and questions that help the participants study the text.

Connect -- helps the participants apply the doctrine to their lives.

Vision -- provides the participants with practical suggestions for taking the theme of the lesson out of the classroom and into the world.

In addition, each session also includes a Law/Gospel focus, psalms for worship and a hymn for worship.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
