Could you add middle mouse button press on a toolbar icon opens it in new tab.

And when closing tabs, when there is available space, could the remaining tabs auto fill up the empty space please.

Hold down shift when you click the toolbar icon.

I'm trying your suggestion. The tab opens in a new window rather than on the original panel. Is that the normal operation?

Apologies. I misunderstood. There isn't a keyboard shortcut to open in a new panel, but for the main toolbar icons you can right click on the icon to get an option to open in a new tab.

Yes, that's good thank you. MM button is the muscle memory with all other apps and is one less movement so it would be ideal but this works too.

It's Ctrl + click for that. Shift opens new in floating window, for the ones that can support that.

I just found that mm button on an existing tab will close it.

Google chrome does the same thing. It is used to open links in a new tab but also to close a tab.
Why is the same button being used to open and close things? MM button on a tab should clone it.

As for the toolbar buttons, the Ctrl + click will focus an existing tab of that type. So adding the mm button would help because you could create a new tab > default position (Bible button would be = KJV open to Gen.1:1) with that, regardless if there are already existing ones.
