NIVAC appraisal

Who has an opinion to share about the 1 volume NIV Application Commentary?

It ranks dead last on this list:
But that may be because it is new. And somehow Matthew Henry made number 1? Sure wouldn’t have been my choice …
Honestly it depends on what kind of commentary you want. For me personally I don’t place much value in writings that try to find a personal application for each verse. I want a commentary that discusses important topics about the passage and the language. I will make my own personal application.
I have the single volume NIVAC in my library because I decided not to buy the full set. When individual volumes were on sale i grabbed them though 😎

I personally like it. It gets to the application faster and the explanation is great for quick reference and devotional reading.

I recently bought it and it's an excellent resource in my opinion, especially for anyone that can't afford the pricy full range. It's great at summarizing the whole range with only the critical information you need to know. I would still buy the set as well if I can.

I was also seeking a review of NIVAC considering I already have a number of Critical to Application Commentary sets. I have decided that I will purchase a book or two at a time when they are deeply discounted but not purchase the set all at once.

Buy it if you can. I paid $29.99 prepub and now it’s $10 cheaper!
