What is the best option between MacBook air M3 and Macbook Pro M3.l
If you've got 16g of ram and at least 512g of HD, the Macbook air will serve Logos' needs just fine. What else would you like to do with your laptop is the question. For more intensive applications (video editors, etc), the pro would serve you better. I'm running a M1 Max but a similar M1 air has everything Logos needs.
@NK Thank you, it will be mainly be used for logos and normal work related use that makes use of web and spreadsheets and email. I just saw there is an older Macbook Pro that has the same M3 chip as Macbook Air not the Pro chip, but the screen is 14inch and has better display and has 512gb storage and not 256gb like Mackbook Air.
buy all the memory you need as upgrading both storage and ram is not easy with the Mac laptops. If you can do it it is expensive. I have an M1 MBP 16" and love it. My wife has the M1 air and she loves how compact and light it is. As long as you have the storage for the long haul, you will be good.
I have a 2011 MBP that still runs great, but can't be updated any more.
MacBook Pro if you need sustained maximum performance for long periods of time. Very few people really need that.
The main difference between the two is that the Pro has a cooling fan. The Air does not. When the MacBook Air has to do sustained maximum performance, it will slow down when it gets too hot. This is called thermal throttling. It doesn’t happen very often under normal usage. Logos is not going to do it except for maybe while indexing.
Not having a cooling fan is actually an advantage. Because cooling fans are mechanical components sometimes they fail. even when they don’t fail, they always blow air through the inside of the computer case getting dust and dirt on all of the components so I really like the MacBook Air. It stays clean inside and is likely to last a lot longer.
I have a lot of books in Logos which I often want to consult, but then when I try to do so I can't since it is called something else in Logos compared to what I know it by and I don't recognize it. I see that I am able to change the names of books, but it is unclear to me what I am supposed to be changing for it to show up…
Dear Folk, Brian Collins' recent WordbyWord article summarizing types of commentaries is very good. How can we save this article for later use? I've starred it in my browser, but will Logos always keep it available somewhere? Logos best commentaries site, usually has commentaries categorized as Advance, Intermediate, etc.;…
Both Robert Solomon and Irving Singer attribute the quote "love is lust plus the ordeal of civility" to Freud, but neither of them provides an actual source. I have looked and looked and strongly suspect this is a sentence/claim attributed to Freud that he never actually said/wrote. This happens a lot with famous thinkers.…
How should I start?
I can change the versions that appear in the text comparison tool with no trouble. However, when I press F7 from my Bible, I do not get the versions I want to compare. How do I change the Bibles that appear when I press F7?
