What happened to the page break function in the newest update?

I commonly use double dash to signal the slide content should continue on a new slide. It's not working!

    Clarification - "slide break" instead of "page break".

    The function does not work on text boxes. It does work on the main text/body box.

    I had trouble with the main text/body box. It was entering all text in italics and I could not change it to normal. So, I deleted the box and added a new text box from the upper right. That's when the slide break function was not working.
