Moving ideas around in canvas

I have a question that may seem strange in any other context. But hopefully this will make sense.

With using the canvas, is there a way of locking child ideas to parent ideas, so that when I'm move a parent any children come with it?

I know I can select a range of ideas and move them together. But it would be nice to be able to test click and drag one idea and have any children come with it.

Also, on a slightly different point, it would be nice to be able to collapse ideas back to the parent idea, particularly on extensive diagrams. I know this is more a feature for mind mapping software, but I expect there will be a number of customers who are using the canvas for mind mapping, and such a future would be useful.

Are you looking for the group function? select multiple items, right click, group is near the bottom of the menu. Or are you looking for a hierarchy structure such as some outline products have? I don't think Canvas supports that.

Yes, that solves a lot of the problem. I had not thought of that. Thank you.
