Best Practices for Requesting a Book in Logos

When requesting a book for us to license, here are a few helpful elements that will help us process your request.
- One title per request/post. A one-to-one correspondence between your request and our internal database where we are attempting to license the title helps us manage these requests more efficiently. A long list of titles can be a bit overwhelming.
- Title
- Author
- ISBN. Not absolutely essential but helpful when there are multiple editions. In most cases, we want the newest edition.
- External link to either publisher or Amazon page.
- Comments. Totally optional, but feel free to make your case as to why you think this book would be of benefit to Logos users.

Thanks for clarifying. Would you mind to pin this to the top of the forum?

Thanks for the clarification. Question, on some older posts on other parts of the forum we have both single and multiple requests under older posts?

Forgive me, Keith. I don't quite understand your question. Can you rephrase?

Some of my post text was deleted before I hit "post." I was trying to say:
Question, on some older posts on other parts of the forum (eg Logos/Verbum Help) we have both single and multiple requests under the same post. Some of them also have multiple titles in the post. Can those be duplicated under the Book Suggestion area under one title per request?

@Keith it's up to you. I know we have a huge backlog of requests to go through. We're currently in the process of hiring another team member in publisher relations that will help with that. Our goal is to respond to every title that has been requested, but it's a large task. If you want to give new attention to a title, you can always tag me in an older post.

That sounds very kind and generous, @Rick Mansfield (Logos). Is that valid for all forum users? And, in particular, would that apply also to requests for titles in German language?

I meant it for all forum users, even German language :-)
Just realize that we're slower than we would like to be in responding right now. I'm hopeful that we can be more responsive in due time.

Rick,
This is a very helpful list but I'm wondering if you would also be asking input as to whether it is a "Reader Edition" or a full logos resource. Obviously the Reader Editions are much faster and lower production costs for Logos. Perhaps Logos already has guidelines as to how that decision is made.
Thanks,
Ron

@Ron Behrens technically, both Reader Editions and Research Editions are both considered "Logos Editions" or "a full Logos resource" as you describe it. Whenever one of us adds a new title to our internal production database, we designate whether it should be a Reader Edition or Research Edition. In broad strokes, reference materials such as commentaries become Research Editions while standard monographs become Reader Editions. Occasionally, we change the designation during production.

I do wish that Logos would be more discerning sometimes and realize that some monographs are serious research works and deserve to be published as research editions. Some of us need page numbers because we cite some of the monographs in things we are producing, but the reader editions lack page numbers.

@David McClister actually Reader Editions do have page numbers. For example, a recent personal purchase I made is The Apocryphal Sunday: History and Texts from Late Antiquity. It is a Reader Edition and has page numbers. Generally, you should find page numbers in all Logos Editions, both Reader and Research. Only Logos ebooks (titles that don't have the "Enhanced for [Logos symbol]" label) don't have page numbers.

Thanks Rick. So apparently the resource I'm looking at is not a "reader's edition," but designated on the Logos site as an Ebook (lost in the terminology here). It is Thornhill's book on Election from IVP Academic (2015), and it completely lacks page numbers. My concern still stands. Coming from an academic publisher, this book should have page numbers and the regular footnote formatting.

@David McClister we began to include "plain" ebooks a while back as a faster means of getting content on the platform. Ebooks do not require any formatting the way Logos Editions do, so they're pretty much automatic. If you're like me (and I consider myself a user first) I'd rather have a book in Logos any way I can get it over another platform (like Amazon Kindle). Having said that, if there is demand, there is the potential for pretty much any ebook to be "upcycled" to a Logos Edition. Just put in a request separate from this thread, and we will see what we can do.
