Suggestion: A Special AI Forum for Logos Users

Hey Logos Community,

I’d like to propose a special AI Forum for Logos users eager to explore how AI—like Smart Search or future tools—can boost our Bible research. A dedicated space to share ideas, tips, and prompts, focused on benefits and practical use. (AI book recommendations in Logos?) I’ve been chatting with AI users globally, and digging in beats getting swamped by change.

This wouldn’t be for naysayers or apocalyptic sidetracks—just a sandbox for critical optimists who want AI to serve our faith, not sidetrack it. Current forums (like Q&A or Discussions at community.logos.com) touch on AI sporadically (e.g., the Oct 30, 2024, category thread), but nothing’s dedicated yet. Could this help us harness AI together? Thoughts?

Cheers,
Renold

Thank you for sharing but we do not have plans for feature-specific subforums or community groups at this time.

    No naysayers. Sounds like church!

@Renold Burke, I want to support our community as much as possible and am glad you suggested this. Interesting idea!

How do you envision this AI-specific subforum different from our formal Logos and Verbum forum? Asked another way, why couldn't the same posts be shared there with the AI tag? I ask because siloing the discussion away may cause segments of our community to miss out on the AI dialogue if they are not in that subforum.

Hey DMB, your “No naysayers. Sounds like church!” line killed me—pure gold! I’m guessing you’re over there parsing Hebrew verbs while I’m still figuring out “aleph,” but this subforum’s no synagogue lockdown—just a chill spot for AI fans to tinker without the “it’s toast” crew crashing the party.

    Hey Jason,

Thanks for tossing this around with me—I really appreciate you jumping in! I hear you on not wanting to split things up too much, and I’m pumped to figure out a way that keeps the good vibes going for everyone. So, here’s my pitch for an AI subforum, broken down nice and easy:

    What Makes It Different

The subforum would be a sweet little hub for us Logos folks who wanna geek out past the basics with AI stuff like Smart Search. We’re talking advanced tips, troubleshooting those weird AI hiccups, playing with custom prompts, or even diving into how AI meshes with Bible study on a theological level. It’s not about yanking AI chatter out of the main forum—it’s just a spot for enthusiasts to get into the nitty-gritty that might be a bit much for the general crowd.

    Working Alongside the Main Forum

No worries about losing the big-picture AI talk! General posts—like new feature drops or quick “how do I do this” questions—can totally chill in the main Logos and Verbum forum with the AI tag. That keeps everyone in the loop. The subforum would just handle the super-specialized stuff, so we don’t clog up the main feed with threads that might feel too techy or out-there for the wider crew.

    Avoiding a Silo

To keep it all connected, we could share the love between forums. Imagine pulling the best subforum threads—like a killer tip or a wild idea—and popping them into the main forum with a weekly roundup or pinned post. That way, folks who don’t hang in the subforum still get a taste of the action without needing to dive in themselves. No walls, just bridges!

    Why It’s Worth It

A dedicated space like this could spark a mini-community of AI fans within Logos—think collab, fresh ideas, and maybe even some crazy innovations. Plus, it’d be a goldmine for you and the team, bundling all that power-user feedback into one spot to tweak and tune future AI tools. Win-win, right?

So, what’s your take, man? Could this strike the balance—keeping the main forum chill and giving the AI crowd a sandbox to play in? Let me know what you think!

    Take care,
    Renold Burke

@Renold Burke, there are some good ideas in there, but the more we segment the community the less we learn together. We've been ideating a forum for those "New to Logos" (Logos 101), and this type of deep-level thinking may fit well in a "Not -So-New to Logos" (Logos 401).

At present, we do not have plans for feature-specific subforums or community groups; only use-case or audience-specific.

Thanks for the thoughts! I get it—too much segmenting could split us up when we’re better off learning together. I love the “Logos 101” and “Logos 401” ideas—maybe the AI deep-dive stuff could slide into that 401 vibe for folks ready to geek out a bit more. Makes sense to keep it use-case focused rather than feature-specific for now. Let me know if there’s a way to tweak this to fit where you’re heading!

I get to be a naysayer!! Okay, I am very interested in the use of AI to study about the Bible just not about using it to study the Bible which I see as requiring full personal attention esp. listening.

I would prefer a tag to a separate forum as some users who are leery of trying it might see some of the simpler things it can do that are time savers rather than interpretive and be interested enough to try it.

@MJ. Smith Understood. I appreciate your response. I’ve made up my mind to join the AI nerds in exploring and experimenting with AI across various fields beyond Bible research, sharing my insights in other AI forums where skepticism isn’t such a barrier. I’ll keep an eye on how things develop in this Logos forum, though I don’t expect anything new or innovative here in the short term.

    Regards,

@Renold Burke I'm glad there are people like you. I tend to "keep up" by reading computational logic which reminds me both what can be done with limited logic and that it is limited logic.
