Can updates be set to automatic on iMac?

My Windows devices have always prompted me to "relaunch" when an update is available. The iMac the church uses keeps making me manually download updates as the work I've done on a later version before getting to the church says it may not function properly until the update is done.

    Absolutely. Under System settings, click on General, then Software Update and finally Automatic Update. From there you can click on the little Information icon to the right of Automatic Update and select what update options you want to enable.
