Cancelled Orders

It's been awhile since I last posted. Mainly because a few weeks back I encountered the "100+ Books on PrePub Shipping Soon" announcement, and well...somehow the bubble just burst. Months passed with hardly anything coming through, then WHAM! ...a ton of stuff all at once. And the announcement wasn't followed by an apology...just an exclamation point!...as if it was a good thing.

I have trimmed my PrePub list from over $15K to less than $13K in the last few weeks and nearly all of that has been cancelled orders. I expect I will be trimming that by about another $2-5K in the next few weeks as well--same reason. Not that I don't want the titles...I just don't like getting hammered all at once with "take it or leave it" ultimatums. It just doesn't sit well with me...or my wallet.

Ergo, I'm leaving it. There are still a few titles I may pick up here and there (mostly the cheap CP items), but the trance is gone. I skipped the Pillar fill-ins...even though I really don't like having partial sets. I jumped on all the many PrePub individual Bible books collections...but I recently skipped the Daniel collection and the Elisha collection, and so I am about 100% certain to drop all of them. That is probably a couple $K worth right there. Thereoretically, the "Logos commitment" to adding 100's or 1000's of titles per year sounds good. But I personally don't think Logos titles are much of a swell deal once they go off PrePub--and sometimes even PrePub can be pricey. Like I posted a few weeks back, what I really want is for my current collection to link to the rest of my current collection--I want what I HAVE to "work"--and right now it often doesn't. That takes quite a bit of the shine off of the whole experience.

Drinking from a firehose hurts. Drinking from the avalanche of PrePubs feels just as good. I've drunk about all I can stand--unless things somehow improve. Not real sure what that would look like, though.

It sounds to me like you have not been made aware of the offer Logos has given.

    From Dan Pritchett - http://community.logos.com/forums/t/24112.aspx

Luther, we are working on ways to solve this challenge for the
future, and we are already spreading out titles as much as we can right
now. One of the ideas we have to fix this would be a "Pastor's
Piggybank" or "Credit Balance Account" where you could set up a monthly
payment plan at your Logos.com account just like a savings account, then
apply credit balances to any order. That way, people on budgets or
monthly book allowances from their church/employer/spouse Stick out tongue
could know exactly what they were paying each month and have a receipt
to account for it. Hopefully that would help spread the payments out.

Right now, what I am going to do for everyone reading this, is to make a one time exception to the rules.

I will instruct the sales team to take a snapshot of all Pre-Pub
orders for any customer that requests it between now and the end of
October 2010. Fill up your Pre-Pub cart with as many titles as you want.
"All of them" if you want...  Then, contact one of our sales
    representatives at 800-875-6467 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              800-875-6467      end_of_the_skype_highlighting
and ask them to make a note on your account and take a screen
shot/print out of your Pre-Pub cart on our internal systems. You should
also probably take a screen shot and a print out of your Pre-Pub orders
    page: https://www.logos.com/user/MyPrepubs

Once you have all the Pre-Pubs you want in your cart and you have
taken a screen capture and printed it out, call your sales rep and make
sure they take a screen capture and make a print-out here too. Then they
will place a note on your record and file your details.

Once they assure you that they have a full record of your entire
cart, locked in at the best price you were able to grab, and that they
have made notes on your account, you should begin deleting all the
orders that you can't afford at this time.

Any time after the Pre-Pubs that you originally ordered shipped, you
may call your sales rep. and ask them to place your order. You may even
combine products onto orders and even use the payment plan.

All orders must be placed before the end of June 2011. You may hold
off all ordering until the very last day and then add them all up onto
one big payment plan for 12 months if you like, but starting July, we
will wipe out all records and holds for this program, and it will
    expire.

Yep...you would be right. Hadn't heard about this.

But...the shine still isn't there for me. I may decide to do this, on a limited scale. But I've already deleted tons of stuff, and I don't even have a way to trace it all. I doubt I could put it all back in my PrePub stack if I wanted to. And just like one avalanche can create another, I feel like my cancelling avalanche is already a done deal. Funny how cancelling one item makes cancelling the next item just that much easier.

It's just a matter of seeing where things stand after gravity has done its thing.

I wish I could take advantage of the offer given. I'm pushing my resources to commit to the $150 in community pricing I have taken on! thankfully they have not been coming too quickly and its pretty much nickle and dime stuff when it does.

Do take advantage of this offer, even if you only mildly take advantage of it, it is well worth the time it will take.

Quoting Dan Pritchett: Right now, what I am going to do for everyone reading this, is to make a one time exception to the rules.

In a similar way - as an exception - I got my NICOT/NICNT when the prepub was already over.  Still paying last chunks of it, and it has been a great resource for me.  Thanks to the sales persons.
