Fritz Staal for the contemporary Christian ... book recommendations wanted.

When I was in college, Fritz Staal published The Unseemly Realm: A Critical Analysis of the Writings of Michael S. Heiser — Logos Community) led me to Objectivity in Biblical Interpretation: Howe Ph.D., Thomas A.: 9781514149201: Amazon.com: Books (now on order) which brought me back to Staal's book. Do you know of any recent books on the study of the Christian experience/desired experience?
which was ground breaking in terms of how to study religion where you yourself is the only available test subject. Last night a Logos book request on Heiser's methodology (Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
