Labelling search tabs is a good idea but I do not find the current implementation useful. The reason is that the label is automatically generated and too long a reproduction of the search string. As one multiplies panels, there is not enough space available on the tabs to show these labels. Even with a layout that divides the screen in two and has three tabs on each side on a 24 inches monitor, search tabs only have space to display "Search" which is not an improvement. Really, the best would be able to rename tabs ourselves.

Good Download Setup file! Our Proclaim app did not run on Sunday 2025-05-25; the desktop icon was clicked, the app blinked then did not load. No problem right? Rebooted 2X with no success. Then went to the Proclaim site, downloaded the Windows compatible set up file; on install there was an error indicating a critical source set up file could not be found! Thinking it may be a PC issue, I downloaded the setup file on a 2nd and 3rd backup PC, all resulted in the same install error as the initial error. So we frantically scrambled to build the the church service in a Power Point app & ran the service from there! I will have to try the new 42.1 setup on the problem PC.

I'd recommend making a feedback post regarding "renaming the tabs ourselves", as you notice with the current implementation the label of the tab does depend on the width of your panel and depending on how long your syntax is, will impact the label name.

I agree with the essence of your comment, but I have found that hovering over the search tabs provides very useful information. Therefore, while I was initially dissatisfied with the change, I have since grown very appreciate of it. A quick hover from one to the next over my search tabs for me is easier and more efficient than clicking and looking.

This suggestion already exists and you can vote for it:

Imo, there should be a difference in the way that feedback on a feature that's not working great is communicated and handled versus suggestions more generally. Suggestions seems to get lost in the voting system. I am not suggesting something entirely new. I am reporting that something is not working great as it is and mentioning one idea to improve it.

Hovering over tabs does not show anything in my installation.

Good morning! It wasn't working for me either, after I updated, until I restarted. After restarting, I see the full search when I hover over the search tab. And it is awesome! Thank you, Logos team.

@Maria thank you for pointing this out. I'm afraid that it is not the solution for me. I have restarted Logos many times since the update. Just to make sure I do not misunderstand what we are talking about, @Aaron Hamilton and you are saying that while you have a bunch of panels open, you can hover over a search panel tab (which is not in the foreground) and it will show you a tooltip of sorts of its search query?
I see something in the tab when (1) there are very few tabs displayed, otherwise the tabs shrink to showing just "search," (2) I never see any information by just hovering over a search tab in the background.
I run 42.1 in Windows.

Both of these screenshots represent half a layout in which the desktop space is divided in two equal tiles. The screenshot represents one side (one tile) on a 24 inches monitor with Logos maximized.
I wonder if there is a setting that must be set in a particular way needed for the feature to work. Nothing jumped at me when I looked through my settings.0 -
@Francis this is what it looks like on Mac with a lot of tabs open, I am sure it's similar on Windows (picture at the bottom). These are called Tooltips, a feature used in many Windows apps.
Have you checked the setting in Logos - Settings, 'Show Information Tooltips' set to yes?
Old graphic cards or old drivers can stop tooltips from working. It would be useful to see if this is a Logos only issue (hence the setting check above), or all of Windows (do Tooltips work in File Explorer? Just open it, and hover over the 1 tab that comes up)

@NetworkGeek thank you for your suggestions and for the screenshot. Have you verified that it works in Windows? There are frequently bugs that affect one platform but not the other. Yes, 'Show Information Tooltips' is set to yes. Yes, tooltips show fine in Windows.

@Francis try a Smart search. You should see the panel name change after running a Smart search but not when executing a Precise search. Let me know if that helps and clears things up.
I can update our release note to make that more clear.

@Matt Mattox I will try next time I run a smart search. That being said, yes, it would be good to update the release notes to make this clearer. Also, why is it limited to smart searches only?

They definitely need an update. In Windows 11, I have one Search panel in each of two vertical tiles and I see either Search when the tab is open or its icon when closed. Open or closed, hovering reveals details of the search. The behaviour applies to both Precise and Smart Search.
The tab is not named with the search string.
I prefer it this way, so don't change a thing!

I misspoke and I apologies. I just ran more test and I am getting the panel name to change after running a precise search. I believe for your instance, the panel width is to narrow. Can you try with maybe using 1-2 panels and making the width of the panel take a larger portion of the screen and report back?
First image shows the panel name while executing a Precise search.
Second image is with my panel width being more narrow.
