Do I need internet for Logos 10 desktop app? Problem searching my library.

Hi, New Logos10 user. I was at a bible study today with no internet and I couldn't do a search of the books in my library. When I got back to an internet connection the search feature worked. I thought I downloaded all the books in my library so I wouldn't need an internet connection. How can I tell if the books in my library are down loaded? I did try watching a logos vid regarding removing and downloading books, but the content was older and the information wasn't consistent with what I was seeing on my software. For instance I don't see a cloud icon or an option to remove or download a book. Any help is appreciated. Blessings, Nick-

In the Library window, click the three horizontal lines to reveal the sidebar, near the bottom of the list see Devices. "Not on this Device" will show a number if you have any books that have not been downloaded.

@Jack Caviness provided a way to check for books that may not have been downloaded, but I'm wondering exactly what you mean by "couldn't do a search of the books in my library". Could you provide an example of your search, preferably with a screenshot?

And why do you identify yourself as a "Logos 10 user"? What version of the Logos desktop app are you using?

Jack, it looks like all my books are on my Mac. Thank you. Dave I have logos 42.1.10, Logos Pro and a recent 2025 library. I posted a screen shot of the error message I’m getting when I try to search the books in my library if I have WiFi turned off or if no WiFi is available. If I have WiFi I can search normally. Thanks for your help.

@Nicholas Weidhaas The Smart search you attempted does not work offline. It needs WiFi/Internet to be on. If you click on Smart it will allow a Precise Search that does work offline. But the syntax has to be precise as well i.e. jesus AND vine. But try Jesus NEAR vine for better results (click the blue highlighted words to open a Search Help wiki).
