I noticed in the Lexham English Bible translation of Revelation 3:3, “If therefore you are not on the alert” from “ἐὰν οὖν μὴ γρηγορήσῃς”. Should that not be “if therefore you not be on the alert”? As “γρηγορήσῃς” is subjunctive, no?
To get the answer faster, have you checked your commentaries for a discussion of the issue? If you haven't would it help to have suggested searches to find such discussions? Grammar and syntax books listed in an exegetical guide for the verse is another good starting point.
I suggest you use Logos to search for other occurrences of ἐὰν. I think you’ll find that most versions translate the subjunctive verbs in such clauses as indicative in English.
Greg, is this because few folks anymore have a clear understanding of subjunctive? I at times find this a regrettable loss for clear communication.
