Passage List not displaying passage from a different book, only a link to the text

I'm trying to create a passage list and interspersing Bible verses with citations from other documents. However, the text is not showing up at all for the other book that I'm citing - just a link to the text itself. Is there a setting that I'm missing to make this non-biblical text appear? Thanks!

Hm, it seems that a Clippings document may be more suited to your task than a Passage List?

Hi @Jonathan Jergens how are you attempting to add "text" to a "Passage List"? The only way I know of is by inserting headings, and this is not ideal for quotes.

Yes, I tried that, the clippings document did show the text. I'm just curious why the passage list failed to do so? I have passages from the Catechism and Bible that show up fine, just not that particular book for some reason. I'm open to either.

No, I'm just trying to get the text to appear. Currently it shows up like the below. I selected a quote from a document, and all it shows is the title of the document and the section number, but it fails to show the actual text.

@Shawn Grubb (Faithlife) I think the OP is referring to adding non-Biblical references to the passage list rather than headings. This works as long as the reference is a valid milestone to a resource he owns. We need an example of a reference that fails to be able to determine the problem and its solution.

You must use the format given in the reference box of the document e.g. Hum. gen. Red. 18 (this is the milestone which I often copy using the context menu)
Are you sure 38 is a valid paragraph number or am I looking at the wrong document?

The way that I added it was by highlighting the text and then clicking "add > selected text."

38 is a the valid paragraph number, however, it is an encyclical within a collection of encyclicals, so the book title is not actually "humani generis," it's more like a chapter within the book.

If there's another way to add the text, let me know. Thanks for the help!

Okay … what is the encyclical you are trying to reference? You enter references into the Passage list not text. Please give me the actual title of the book you are using so I can provide you an appropriate screen shot.
