I need help copying the references of a few verses

I am still having issues with copying a bunch of verses. I understand that I go to Share —> Passage List, but then after that the passage list is blank and wants me to manually add verses. It also says I can drag and drop the verses, which I would love to if I could select the verses, but there again doesn't seem to be a way to do this.

So as simply as possible, how do I do something as basic as selecting a block of verses? I know the Passage List is involved, but sometimes it adds the verses, and sometimes not, and I can't tell why it behaves one way or the other.

Thank you and I will stop fighting with trying to copy this little list until I hear how to do it.

Well, I'm not the best guide! But for drag/drop > PL and my Mac Logos:

If you right-click the desired selected verses and get the big right-click panel (not the little one).
And the left-column is 'Selection'
Drag-drop doesn't work.

Instead, set the right-click panel to 'Reference'. After that, the drag-drop works (for all subsequent drags).

Hi @DMB, that seems to work for one verse, but how do I select the huge block of verses from an inline search?

On a side note, it might not even matter since I kind of don't think I can get accurate results from Logos. I wanted to search all instances of "the king" in Hebrew, so I selected the Hebrew words and tried to find the inline, but it seems to ONLY pull inflected hits. I "can" search the lemma (Accordance lex) for both "king" and "the" but I can't search for the Logos lemma of both connected??

So the passage list might not even matter if it isn't accurate. So then I went to Accordance and simply told it to find the lex of both words together (my goal), and it obviously pulled more hits. Is there a way to search the Logos lemma of both words connected like I am doing in Accordance? Hopefully I am not understanding somethng.

Oops … didn't see inline search in your initial post. And sure enough, in the right-click menu, inline search refs are individuals. Don't work multiple.

I can drag inline search verses individually; just no happiness, multiple.

I'm not an inline'er but I do remember the hebrew multi-word problem (but not the solution if any).

Hi @DMB, ok, wow, that is a major issue for OL work if I can't search the lemma of "the king" together in Hebrew. The whole reason I needed to do the inline search is because I was trying to find the hits of when it has the article vs not. I guess I will just stick to my original plan of Logos for notes (thank God for their notes!) and classes, and than translational work and passage lists still in Accordance. Both programs truly do have their individual strengths.

Hi @NichtnurBibelleser, thank you for the screenshots, and I am relieved there is a way to do this in Logos, even though it is more complicated and a little slower than Accordance to find the info. Regarding your first screenshot with the article before the word, did you type that all out by hand? Or how did you create that formula?

Also, I see your "VOR" is capturing everything which comes before it, but not necessarily connected (such as Gen 14:10 in your first screenshot). Given this, would it work to say "1 WORD BEFORE" instead of just "BEFORE"? I still find Logos commands sort of confusing. I guess I really appreciated the dropdown list of commands in Accordance, which don't seem to be in Logos, unless I am mistaken.

1 WORD BEFORE is close, but Hebrew segments that incorporate the article are a single WORD. BEFORE 1 CHARACTER is needed, so I used the query morph.h:A BEFORE 1 CHAR lemma.h:מֶ֫לֶךְ.1 for a comprehensive answer in LHB. The article is morphological, so I use that rather than the lemma.

In BHS SESB use morph.sesb.h:A BEFORE 1 CHAR lemma.sesb.h:מֶלֶךְ.1

It is more comprehensive than your Accordance result as it includes results like "and/for the king" as a segment.

Hi @Dave Hooton, thank you for your comment. If you don't mind, I have a few questions. First, regarding the formula "morph.sesb.h:A BEFORE 1 CHAR lemma.sesb.h:מֶלֶךְ.1" if I am understanding correctly, the formula actually mixes Hebrew and English, with "A" representing the article (as opposed to typing הַ), and then the Hebrew word is in Hebrew. Am I understanding this correctly?

Second, am I correct that I need to memorize all these formulas, or is there a dropdown list somewhere? (On a side note, what does sesb mean?

Third, when you wrote, "It is more comprehensive than your Accordance result as it includes results like "and the king" as a segment." Taking Gen 14:5, as an example, if I search in Accordance for the article before מֶלֶךְ, it does pull וְהַמְּלָכִים֙ in Gen 14:5, but it only highlights הַמְּלָכִים֙ since וְ was not within my search. Given this, could you clarify what you mean about the search results differing from Accordance and Logos?

@Kristin Gen 14:5 is highlighted the same in the result for Logos BHS SESB. The whole word is highlighted in the Bible. Results like 1 Sam 18:25 לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ are included, where the first character encodes preposition and article, and is not affected by using the lemma for the article. It has 2478 results vs. 1127 for Accordance

You can't copy verses from an Inline Search. Perform a normal Bible/Morph Search and then Save as Passage List from the panel menu. Then you can use Add > …clipboard after copying text containing references e.g. by copying
"was usual (cf. Esth. 5:8; 6:14). Hi @Dave Hooton, thank you very much for the screenshot and I am sorry for the delay. I was able to right click on the phrase and then do the search you showed instead of the inline. I see that produced the correct formula to the right, so then I was able to copy that formula and paste it in the Bible tab and then from there create a passage list. That explains a lot why I was having difficulty if a passage list is not able to be created from an inline search.

Regarding the count comparing Accordance and Logos, I think part of the issue is how the programs count. Accordance is strictly counting what I searched, so Accordance is showing 1127 hits in 873 verses, while Logos is including my search but also adding some extra stuff, and thus has 2478 hits in 949 verses. For example, Logos is including verses such as 1Sam 18:18 and 1Sam 18:23 where הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ does not occur, and it is also counting hits twice such as 1Sam 18:22 and 1Sam 18:25 where הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ does occur, but then another hit of מֶּ֑לֶךְ is also being counted. So it appears that Accordance is being much stricter about only producing what I asked, while Logos has a higher result since it is including what I asked, as well as a few verses I had been trying to exclude (since my search was specifically "the king" in contrast to "king."

Is there a way to get Logos to only pull what I am actually searching?
