For Logos resources, multiple subjects are treated separately in the sort and only the applicable tag shows. For personal books, both values show making the library sort messy and difficult. Bug: show only the appropriate value.
I recommend submitting a feature request for this improvement.
er.. ah.. when the library is not treating all resources in the same manner isn't that a bug? If the error were in the personal book I could see it being a request. Has the permitted bug report count for the month been reached or something?😉 As a request, it will never be corrected?
After reading your reply, I had another look at this issue.
If I browse through my Library, I see many titles that are not Personal books but have two or more subjects separated by semicolons.
If I look at your screenshot, I see that the two titles inside the red box have two subjects separated by semicolons.
I am sorry if I am missing something obvious here. Looking at Logos on my computer, I don't see subjects displaying differently for Personal Books than for Logos resources.
there are books that have more than one subject, which in the subject column will be shown als multiple entries in one filed, separated (or rather concatenated) by a semicolon - HOWEVER: once you sort by subject, those books will come under separate entries. As an example you may look at Michael Heiser's two fiction books "The Portent" and "The Facade" (which I just find I own twice), each having multiple subjects. When sorted by subject, those are separate entries:
the same split-up seems not to happen with PBs, there seems to be only one subject:
Thanks @NB.Mick I was struggling to figure out what Joe was missing - the sort by aspect.
More info: Did a quick test with a new PB to find out whether it is us PB builders or Logos. Maybe this is not a bug, but Logos just behaving like it should.
leads to the following:
i.e. the semicolon and even period-semicolon within the subject field does not make two subjects (I'm pretty sure it works this way with multiple authors, though), but actually using multiple subject fields does.
To test this I rebuild the Packer book from my earlier screenshot, making sure to use multiple subject fields rather than one with multiple entries separated by semicolon:
now it works for me:
@MJ. Smith Looking more closely at your screenshot above, I'm no longer sure it really does show a bug. The subject field does concatenate multiple subjects - and if the library when sorted by subject has "Parascripture" separately from "Christian Science" then it treats PB subjects just like it does the Logos-built subjects.
I'll play with it some more - I had discovered that multiple values had to be added to separate occurrences in the Personal Book tool. I have all of them corrected in the tool. What I cannot swear that all the uploads succeeded. I'll try reuploading a couple of files that show the error.
This whole time I could have been sorting my Library by subject? Knowing that would have been extremely helpful when I spent three days manually tagging (nearly) every book in my library!
