I see lots of sermon creation workflow "templates" available. For example, Power in The Pulpit Sermon Prep by Jim Shaddix, and many others. What do people here think is the best one for a beginner preacher to work through?
Thanks for any advice.
That is a great question. The problem with a response is that "beginner" can mean so many things. New believer? New preacher? New to a church? New to Logos?
I would say that the best method for anyone is the one that fits with their own abilities, experience, personality, audience, and aim. I know that sounds like a cop out, but for instance, for years, (I am old and have been using Logos since before it was Logos) I used the exegetical guide, and passage guide and just slogged through 50 commentaries, and worked my way through the languages.
After a few degrees in seminary and thirty years of preaching, I think that Piper's workflow, Shaddix or Robinson would have been a wiser use of time. So, it depends on where you are at in your walk, experience, etc.
I would ask, have you used any of the sermon prep books that any of the workflows are based on? If you have try that one for a while.
Since you want to use a workflow, if you want to do expository sermons that are text based, the one I'd recommend from among those we have available is Haddon Robinson's. You can get his book in Logos, Biblical Preaching…, 4th ed.
You might find it useful to use all or part of a second workflow for awhile. A good complement to the one above would be Bryan Chappell's Christ-Centered workflow.
I don't use workflows and I suspect a lot of the preachers here on the forums with some experience don't use them. As a beginning preacher, though, you can use all the help you can get. In time you will develop a process that fits you the best, just as you'll find a preaching style that best suits how God has made and equipped you.
thanks for the input. I’ll check those out.
Haddon Robinson's Biblical Preaching is the best for Expository Preaching.

Has Logos changed the default reference tagger from logres to refly? For years I've created tags in Word docs with logres that open up the logos software to the location. I don't want to open the online biblia software. Can I regain the ability to create logres automatically as in the past.
Is there any interest in the ESV Archaeology Study Bible? I think it would be a nice addition to the library.
I can't figure out how to save my layout. It keeps going back to a default instead of keeping my books and panels open. I read the instructions but they do not help. It does not work in the web app or the desktop app. Can anyone help?
I've been loading preaching mode while at home and making sure the whole presentation has loaded into the browser before heading off to a location which has no wifi. It's been fine for a long time. But last week the page disappeared and threw up an error message about no Internet connection, even though I've never had to…
I kept seeing a banner in Logos saying something like, New Special Feature Available 21 Jan 2026 but after Jan 21 I don't see anything new. What happened? Did I miss something?
