I keep hoping to find a daily schedule for reading On the Incarnation during Advent but so far only find 3 week schedules. But in looking, I was reminding that it is a bit late to plan what to recommend to others for Advent and ensure time to track copies down. What are you thinking of recommending? I'm currently reviewing the books in this Orthodox blog recommendations:
By Phoebe Farag Mikhail
- On the Incarnation by St. Athanasius of Alexandria
- The Scandal of the Incarnation by St. Irenaeus of Lyons
- The Sunday Gospels of Kiahk by Fr. John Paul Abdelsayed (Bishop Kyrillos)
- Nativity and Me by Fr. Bishoy Kamel
- Born Crucified by His Grace Bishop Moussa
- Love Took Flesh: Nativity Letters by Fr. Matthew the Poor (Abouna Matta el-Meskeen)
- Putting Joy into Practice: Seven Ways to Lift Your Spirit from the Early Church by Phoebe Farag Mikhail
- Mary As the Early Christians Knew Her: The Mother of Jesus in Three Ancient Texts by Frederica Mathews-Green
- Welcoming the Christ Child: Family Readings for the Nativity Lent by Elissa Bjelitich
- Under the Laurel Tree: Grieving Infertility with Saints Joachim and Anna by Nicole Roccas
- Grace in the Waiting by Caroline Hanna Guirgis [built both for the longer Orthodox Advent and the shorted Western Advent]
Love Took Flesh, Born Took Flesh, and Grace in Waiting particularly catching my interest as new to me.
Note: I think of Athanasius and C.S. Lewis's Holy Joys as traditonal.
