This is Burnett's second book. Pretty much all "historical" approaches to the Bible are diachronic, which fundamentally hobbles any conclusions which are drawn with respect to gaining insight into a synchronic God. If prophecy is a real thing, and if God knows the end from the beginning, then diachronic inquiry is not just flawed but hollow. Any book that takes a synchronic view of Scripture is worth a look.
