Subject: Suggestion to enhance Logos Sermon Assistant with analytical and evaluative capabilities
Description: Currently, the Sermon Assistant in Logos is very helpful for generating sermon outlines, illustrations, applications, and discussion questions. However, many preachers already have their own unique thought process and sermon drafts. What they often need is not a tool to generate content for them, but rather a tool to analyze and review their existing work, ensuring that their sermons are both faithful to Scripture and comprehensive in scope.
I propose adding a Sermon Analysis and Review Assistant that would allow users to:
- Preserve originality: Import their own sermon drafts without the system rewriting or replacing them.
- Structural analysis: Check whether the sermon includes a complete framework (introduction, biblical background, main points, application, conclusion).
- Theological balance: Identify if the sermon leans too heavily on one aspect (e.g., ethics) while neglecting others (e.g., Christology, soteriology).
- Audience application: Provide suggestions for applying the message to different groups (youth, adults, seniors).
- Interactive prompts: Raise key questions for each section (e.g., “Have you considered the original language emphasis here?” or “Is there a concrete life example to illustrate this point?”), leaving the preacher free to accept, adapt, or ignore the suggestions.
Value: This feature would help preachers retain their unique voice while avoiding blind spots, resulting in sermons that are more thorough, faithful to the biblical text, and relevant to the congregation. It would transform Logos from being primarily a “sermon generation tool” into a comprehensive sermon quality assistant, aligning with the original vision of Bible study software—to equip the church with deeper, more faithful engagement with Scripture.
