Hello, I recently came across a copy of The Deuterocanonical Books, a paraphrase done by Albert J. Nevins to be part of the Catholic edition of the Living Bible in 1976. It has an imprimatur from Bishop Leo A. Pursley of Fort Wayne-South Bend and was published by Our Sunday Visitor, Inc. Owing to the different authorship it was done in a different style from the rest of the Living Bible, and I found it to be a smooth read which didn't come at the cost of accuracy. Notably, Nevins chose to make his paraphrase of the Deuterocanonical books from the Douay-Rheims, producing a modern English edition of the Deuterocanon from the Latin Vulgate instead of the Greek sources used for most modern Bibles. I found some details while reading it that it only shared with the Douay due to its use of the Vulgate instead of the Greek. The Living Bible is already available on Logos through Tyndale House, but not the Catholic edition because the rights holder for the translation of the Deuterocanonical books was Our Sunday Visitor magazine. I wanted to suggest obtaining the rights to make the text available through Logos and Verbum, either in the form of the Catholic Living Bible and/or as a standalone product. Attached are some photos of the standalone print edition.
Blessings,
Kevin
