Many, if not most, catechism across all denominations and across time, are organized entirely or in part by:
- The 10 Commandments
- The Lord's Prayer
- The Apostle's Creed
- Sacraments
For the 10 Commandments there is sometimes a difference in source and divisions that would need to be resolved.
For the Lord's Prayer it is normally 7 petitions
- Hallowed be thy name.
- Thy kingdom come.
- Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- Give us this day our daily bread.
- And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
- And lead us not into temptation.
- But deliver us from evil.
For the Apostles' Creed it is normally ~12 articles
- I believe in God the Father almighty.
- Maker of heaven and earth.
- And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord.
- Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.
- Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended…
- The third day he rose again from the dead.
- He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand…
- From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
- I believe in the Holy Spirit.
- The holy catholic (Christian) church, the communion of saints.
- The forgiveness of sins.

Sacraments - the number varies but always subsets of a closed set
