Display output not sizing to full size - "unused" space on top and bottom of slide.

I have a Laser Projector with native 16:10 ratio. It's native resolution is 1280x800.
I have my laptop extended display set for 1280x800 which goes to the projector.
In Proclaim, I have Settings: Display: Slides set to 16:10 (virtual setting).
For output, I have the otuputs I have 16:10 selected and Slides for virtual screen.

My output is fine in the width, however it is not going full height. Proclaim puts a "bar" at top and a "bar" at bottom. It is like proclaim doesn't use those areas.
I can drag my text box into that area, but the background I cannot.

Any suggestions on how to use the whole space?

What is the size of the background image? Proclaim does not automatically adjust backgrounds to fill the available space. If they are the wrong shape, there will be empty bars wherever the background image is short. Your background is probably 16:9, so it's not tall enough to fill your 16:10 slides. Click on Background (upper right), then go to the bottom of the background options and choose the Image Position that works best for the current background. For your example, that's probably Fit to Height > Center or Fit to Height > Right.

Thank you. That helped. Since 16:10 only needs the top vertical increase on top and bottom, doing the center worked and filled the whole slide, but backgrounds with borders would get cropped off on right and left since proclaim zooms out on both horizontal and vertical access. Overall, it is much better. Thank you.

It would be nice to design a background that is 16:10 vs 16:9

Yes, for a border to work the background needs to be designed for 16:10, but the vast majority of backgrounds are 16:9. Other programs allow you to stretch a background to fill the space, but I haven't found that feature in Proclaim. When you upload a background, you could use photo-editing software to convert it to 16:10 before uploading if you want.

My church is getting ready to replace our old 4:3 projector with a newer 16:10 one, so I've been wondering about setting our services at 16:9 to avoid this very problem. But then we lose part of the newer projector's functionality. It's a mixed bag.

That is what we are doing. Replacing our older 4:3 bulb projector with a 16:10 laser projector. Thanks for your help!
