I remember when the St. Vladimir's "Popular Patristics" provided an introduction to the Fathers which was much easier reading and smaller bites than Schaff. There was a significant jump in interest in the Church Fathers. There is a second series that I have been reading that is similar in being easy to read and in small bites but with a quite different choice of materials - chosen from a Coptic perspective rather than a Russian Orthodox perspective.
