Is there a way to stop highlighting from adding a note each time I highlight something?

No, the "note" contains the type of highlight and its location. To remove the note is to remove the highlight. I find it useful to think of "visual notes" vs. "textual notes" which makes their commonality and their presence in note files more obvious.
Just filter them out, so you don't see them

I was working on a Bible Study within the Bible Study Builder for several hours at our local library. Came home, and it reverted to what I had at the start. Is there any way to recover lost work, like within the Sermon Builder's version history?

My computer had to be reset to original settings. Logos was lost. I reloaded from your website, however all of my purchased upgrade's, including my whole library.
