Pasting into Google Docs

Is there a way to copy and paste into google docs without the formatting getting messed up? I can copy paste into word and then copy and paste that into docs, but that is labor intensive. If I try to paste directly into docs it adds a ton of extra spacing and tabs. I have tried changing the paste options to "other" and tried using different formats (including creating several) but still have the same issue.

What resources are you copying from? I just tried it from a couple of non-Bible recourses and it pasted accurately. Copying and pasting from a Bible is a problem unless you right click on the doc and choose "Paste without formatting".

Yeah, I am trying to copy/paste from a Bible.

When I do "paste without formatting" it still adds a bunch of spaces in the text that I have to go back and delete. I can do that, but it seems like this should be something the program can do.

This is one of the reasons that I had stopped trying to move to Google Docs….

You can paste with CTRL-SHIFT-V which will keep the structure of formatting better, but you will lose the bold, italics, etc part of your format style.

I moved back to LibreOffice which improved quite a bit through the years working with Logos' Copy Bible Verses tool.

Try doing it with a pdf. Google Docs has a built-in converter.
