Here is an example of a search of the NASB reverse interlinear on the Hebrew lemma חֶ֫סֶד. The search returns 245 results. I have done an Analysis view of the search results grouped by lemma and results, so I can see all of the verses where the Hebrew word is translated a certain way.
Note that the displayed numbers of each translation ("results") add up to more than the 245 times that the Hebrew words is used. The total number of occurrences is listed as 492, when the results is displayed as 245. This is more than double the actual search results of the Hebrew word.
In addition, in the list of verses, each verse occurs at least twice.
At first I thought the analysis was double counting for the Hebrew word and the English translation ("result"). Even if this is true, the analyzed count of 492 is more than double 245 results.
Here are my questions:
- Why are verses listed twice in the analyzed view? Does this count the English translation and the Hebrew word?
- Why does the count in the analysis not add up to the actual results of the search on the Hebrew word?
- The search analysis includes two Hebrew words that I cannot account for:
- One occurrence of the article הַ. This is odd, because it is not the word I searched for. In addition, there are other times that the article הַ is prefixed to the Hebrew word חֶ֫סֶד, but this is not included in the search results.
- One occurrence of the preposition לְ. This is not consistent, because there are other prefixed prepositions that are not included in the search results.
- [an unrelated bug] The analysis view used to show which columns are used the group the results. In the above example, you can see that this is not displayed. How can I revert to an ungrouped analysis view? Why does the analysis view no longer show which columns are grouping the results?'
Thanks for your help making sense of the analysis view.
