Carta!

I can't imagine FL ever saying no-can-do. At least I can't remember one. Almost always silence of the lambs, or someone notices a prepub. Two choices.
Well, they said, “We can’t at this time,” when Moody left. Maybe they can drop by and say the same for the CARTA negotiations, because, honestly, I’m starting to feel bad and sorry for those who are waiting. This situation is getting kind of pathetic, I don’t care how optimistic or hopeful they want to get.

My guess is that you might label me as the "they" among the "optimistic/hopeful". I kind of like that label. [:)]

You know what I mean Bruce. The point is, if FL can’t pull off a deal with CARTA, then they should just say so. No shame in admitting they ”No-can-do.”

Yes I do DAL. I was just joking with you.

I totally expect them to respond here and have no doubt that they will.

Through the centuries, Christians have been optimistic and hopeful and patient.
Do you honestly believe it's unfortunate or sad or pathetic to have to wait for something, and to not give up hope?
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Yes, Because the hope is different! The Christian’s hope is not based on negotiations between FL and CARTA publishers. I can’t believe you even dared to compare the two! My Christian hope is objective and is not about having a particular resource in Logos, is about going to heaven; worldly hope (e.g. CARTA being published in Logos) is subjective and my “happiness” is dependent upon what those two decide.
So yes, I believe it’s unfortunate, sad AND pathetic that you are still waiting on this deal to get done after so many years. Whether it gets done or not, just know you were hoping on something that is uncertain and not on something that is certain — i.e., the Christian‘s hope of salvation.

My hunch is we haven't heard yet for one of four reasons. In worst-case to best-case scenario order, that would be:
- Negotiations failed and Faithlife is understandably not eager to post the fact.
- Negotiations had to be postponed and the Faithlife staff have been too busy/preoccupied with other things to mention it.
- Negotiations didn't go well enough to clinch the deal, but well enough to plan on another meeting, so nothing definite to report.
- Negotiations were successful but Faithlife doesn't want to deal with the flood of expected questions until finished with March Madness.
I suppose it could also be that Carta has reasons for wanting to control when negotiation results are announced. I was just curious as I'm contemplating a Carta purchase and thought it would be nice to know if it would be worth waiting for availability in Logos. I didn't mean to stir the pot.

Yes, Because the hope is different!
There is a difference between hoping for a certainty and hoping for an uncertainty? While the outcome might differ, I don't think hope itself is different.
Are we meant to have an optimistic nature for things that are more likely and a pessimistic nature for things that are less likely?
DAL said:I can’t believe you even dared to compare the two!
The things that shock one of us, DAL, may or may not shock the other. While we are all different/unique, we are still loved.

I still want to wait on this deal to get done, and hope for the best.
I am mindful of our failures in encouraging one another and building one another up.
I wish we were already more like Christ, and could regard others as better than ourselves.
I am thankful that He sees us differently than we see ourselves or each other.

What's new, Phil?

There's nothing to report at this time. If that changes, we'll let everyone know. Thanks.

All joking aside, sorry you guys didn’t get your wish yet again. I know how much it would’ve meant for you to have CARTA in Logos. But, if it serves as any consolation, keep praying 🙏 maybe next time you’ll get your wish. There’s always the A-Team company that has CARTA with better resolution if you decide to finally jump the gun on it. 👍😁👌

Does that mean "We couldn't work out a deal," or "We're still negotiating and don't have an answer yet."
It sounds like no deal was possible, but I don't want to assume that negotiations have concluded without any positive outcome.

This kind of answer only fuels the fire after the comment that Phil made. I don't expect to get notes from the meeting, but something more could surely be added after the long wait and the notification that a specific meeting would be taking place.
1. On a scale of 1-10, how likely is it that customers will see Carta in the next 6 months? year? two years?
2. Will there be further meetings anytime soon?
I already own the Carta products that I want in Accordance, but I would prefer to have them in Logos, all in one place, so I would likely purchase them again. It would just be nice to have some communication, which I would think is something that Faithlife is working to improve. This type of quick non-answer is not an improvement.
Disclaimer: I hate using messaging, texting, and email for real communication. If anything that I type to you seems like anything other than humble and respectful, then I have not done a good job typing my thoughts.

Remember the CW song 'One Piece at a Time' (forgot the title, building a car taking home daily a piece from the factory).
I think each of us could help Logos, but pasting in a short copy of Carta (avoiding copyright rules of course). Like the CW song, it might have issues concerning usability and look awful, but it'd at least run!

Agreed! After reading Bill's statement, my first thoughts were: "Really?" "That's it?" [:S]Joseph Turner said:There's nothing to report at this time. If that changes, we'll let everyone know. Thanks.

I finally started picking up some Carta products from another company, but I feel the pain for those who have been waiting so long for either the products in Logos or better communication from Faithlife about it.

Incredible! I am in shock over the latest response of Logos!
Very disappointed! This might be the push I needed as well, to go to A. [:(]

Bill, Bob, and I are meeting next week and hope to arrive at a clearer sense of whether we'll be able to offer Carta products in Logos and what the timeline might look like.

Thank you, Phil. I appreciate the clear update. And here is one more voice expressing hope that you, Bill, and Bob can bring Carta to Logos.
I've never been able to justify personally spending enough on "the other company" in dollars and in time learning a new program to try them out. So I surely hope "let them eat cake woops, I mean A" will not be the answer.

Thank you, Phil. Looking forward to hearing the outcome.

Thank you, Phil! This is what I needed to hear! I'll try holding on! I just needed something more definite than "there is nothing to report at this time." This told me nothing.
So, thank you!!!!

Thank you, Phil. Almost all posts indicate Logos customers who don't yet have Carta products really would prefer to have them in Logos than have to go to other Bible apps for them. And at least a few who do currently have some of the products in other apps have said they would be willing to re-purchase them for Logos. Most of us can wait patiently when we know what's going on. It's the lack of (and/or simply poor) communication that's harder to abide.Phil Gons (Faithlife) said:Joseph Turner said:1. I hope Faithlife is able to negotiate inclusion of these products in it's over-all great selection of resources.

Sorry for the cryptic response, Joseph. I'm just not accustomed to sharing details around publisher negotiations. I'm doing all I can to bring Carta materials to Logos. I've been doing this for a long time, and am quite used to the back and forth pace of deal points. It takes time to get things right. And, to protect both parties, I don't think it's helpful to provide the sort of transparency you and others might be used to here from Bob and Phil. For now, all I can say is things are moving forward, but I have absolutely no timeline.

Bill, I can appreciate the position that you are in....but if you had just let us know that things were "moving forward," that would have helped.
Thanks.

Thank you, Bill. That’s definitely something to report.
Thank you in general for your work to acquire resources for Logos.
